Sophomore running back Jaylin Lucas had been slept on in high school, but put himself on the map this past season. He earned All-American honors. Many do not know that Lucas choose Indiana over Tulane (his hometown school) because he felt the love was different at Indiana and the program gave him the best opportunity to play. This season he hopes to build more consistency and develop the love that brought him here.

“My goals are just being consistent. This morning I woke up and put some extra work in. Putting in work with my brothers every day and making sure that we don’t have another losing season like last year. Mainly just being consistent.” Said Lucas before Saturday’s Men’s Basketball game against Wisconsin.

“I feel like at Indiana it’s just all love. I’m not really worried about the portal right now. This is the best fit for me and I can see myself building a legacy here.”

Lucas did not enter the transfer portal. He would have had a ton of opportunities to play somewhere else but stuck with Indiana. He expects to be getting a lot of carries this season with an upgraded offensive line.

“Getting the ball a lot. Taking over the game. Our O-Line is looking very good this year and are putting in extra work.”

This upcoming season Lucas feels he as well as the program are more experienced and humble Lucas is one of a handful of guys that got valuable playing time this past season.

“I can say we are going to be way more experienced and humble. We are going to bring every team into deep water. Everybody is going to be all in and execute.”

Lucas was also asked about the possibility of playing with Tayven Jackson Davis, who committed to the program yesterday afternoon.

“I thought about it. I’m looking all on Twitter. Brendan Sorsby is putting in work. I think it should be a battle for the QB spot.”

Lastly, Lucas was asked about Quarterback Dexter Williams whom he developed a lot of chemistry with last season.

“I was with Dexter yesterday. He’s rehabbing well and he’s going to come back strong. It’s all Love for my boy Dex.” Lucas said.

Lucas does not care who will be handing the ball off to him in Week 1 against Ohio State, but this is for certain he be ready to go.
