2024 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 35 Days (Aaron Stewart)

Welcome, Hoosier fans to the 2024 Hoosier Huddle Countdown! Over the next 100 days the Hoosier Huddle staff will feature every player on the 2024 roster in anticipation of the season opener on August 31st against the FIU Golden Panthers. Today, we look at redshirt sophomore defensive back Aaron Stewart.

COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: # 35 – Aaron Stewart

Height: 5’10”

Weight: 186 pounds

Hometown: Fort Wayne, Indiana

High School: Carroll 

Class/Position: Redshirt Sophomore / Defensive Back

A walk-on defensive back coming out of Carroll High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Stewart looks to provide some depth to the Hoosiers secondary.

In high school, Stewart was consistently productive, totaling 37 tackles and 8 pass breakups as a senior for the Chargers.

Stewart redshirted his freshman season in 2022 and did not see any game action in 2023, but has played a vital role on the scout team, helping the Hoosiers prepare for the various coverage schemes they will see during the season. 

As a native Hoosier from a football powerhouse like Carroll, Stewart can help develop IU’s in-state recruiting pipeline, which has helped the Hoosiers keep players like Tyler Cherry in-state. Given his success at the high school level and the several years of eligibility he has left, Stewart will have the opportunity to sit behind and learn from veteran DBs Josh Sanguinetti and Shawn Ashbury II. Look for him to make the most of his snaps when he gets the nod from Coach Cignetti.
