2023 Countdown to Kickoff: 3 Days (Omar Cooper)

The 2023 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is officially underway! We are counting down from 100 to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will look atone (or two) players on the current Indiana football roster and highlight the player’s role in the upcoming season. Today we look at wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr.

Name: Omar Cooper Jr.

Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana

Position: Wide Receiver

Year: Redshirt Freshman

Height/Weight: 6’1”/191 pounds

Cooper Jr. is a former consensus top-100 ranked wide receiver in the 2022 signing class. He chose

the Hoosiers over West Virginia, Arkansas, Boston College and other schools.

He appeared in four games as a true freshman last season while maintaining redshirt status. He

played on special teams and tallied 4 kick returns for 63 yards.

Cooper Jr. is currently slated to be the third string slot receiver behind senior Dequeece Carter and

Kamryn Perry. He will likely get adequate playing time on special teams and will hope to get his first

look at offense with second and third stringers against Akron and Indiana State.
