Written by: Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)

The 2023 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is officially underway! We are counting down from 100 to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will look at one (or two) players on the current Indiana football roster and highlight the player’s role in the upcoming season. Today we look at transfer defensive lineman Robby Harrison.

Name: Robby Harrison

Hometown: Greenwood, South Carolina (Emerald)

Position: Defensive Line

Year: Redshirt Freshman

Height/Weight: 6’4”/325 pounds

Social Media: Twitter (@Robbyharrison12)

Harrison joins the Hoosiers by way of Arizona State. The big defensive lineman played in three games while redshirting the 2022 season. In high school Harrison was a consensus three-star prospect among the major recruiting services.

Harrison was a featured in a story from The Athletic in March of 2022 that talked about how the prospect went from lightly recruited to the focus of the defensive coaching staff at Arizona State.

The article says even though Harrison did not generate many Power Five offers “the 18-year-old passes the eye test. He stands 6-foot-3, 315 pounds and is the type of lineman who doesn’t need pads to look big. Asked for his first impression of Harrison, senior end Stanley Lambert said simply, “Robby’s strong as hell.” Indeed Harrison, who has worked with athletic trainers since fifth grade, has bench pressed 420 pounds.”

The Hoosiers needed to add bulk and talent up front, and they did just that with Harrison. While he will have to win his way into the rotation, Harrison has four years of eligibility left and will make an impact on the IU defense at some point during his career.

The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff rolls on with Day 58 tomorrow!
