Hometown: Ellenwood, Georgia
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 203 Pounds
Position: Defensive Back
Jordan Grier enters his third season with the Hoosiers with solid in-game experience (18 appearances at both safety and special teams) and a legitimate shot at the backup spot for Allen’s prized husky position in his 4-2-5 defensive scheme. Grier played in all twelve games last season, totaling five solo tackles and five assisted, along with half a tackle for loss. His best game came against Penn State, where he recorded four tackles.
After coming to Indiana as an athlete and being groomed to play safety, Grier’s focus for his continued development should be to show the coaching staff that he has the coverage skills to make plays in space and defend opposing wide receivers and tailbacks. He is a proven tackler, but still needs a bit of work to be relied on in the passing game at the husky position. Nonetheless, Grier will certainly be seen as a key playmaker on the Indiana defense in the coming 2023 season.
