2022 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff Part II (James Head Jr.)

Written by Andrew Walker

The Hoosier Huddle 100-day countdown is officially under 10 days left. To think we’ve come this far and have to go just a little further. Today, we’re taking a look at James Head Jr.

Head Jr. graduated with a media degree in December of 2021, and joins the Hoosiers as a graduate for this upcoming season. Hailing from Miami, Fl at Southridge high school, Head Jr. has made his mark clear at Indiana. Last season, he couldn’t quite shine as he had in the past due to injury during the first five games, but he’s certainly ready to go for the 2022 season.

His junior, sophomore, and freshman seasons were seriously something to behold. Putting up stats as a role player for three consecutive years really helped the Hoosiers defensive efforts. His junior year he put up 17 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two for loss, one fumble recovery, three quarterback hurries, and one pass breakup.

His high school accomplishments are also anything but ordinary. Collecting over 250 tackles, 47 for loss, and 45 sacks is serious business. Tack that onto seven forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, one interception, nine pass breakups, and three blocked field goals and you have an athlete that can really impact a program given his talent. He left high school as the no. 25 strong-side defensive end nationally by 247Sports.
