With Charles Campbell on the Hoosiers as the main place kicker, Freeman will look to have a similar role as he had last season and in the year prior. Last season, Freeman kicked off four times with one touchback. He also scored his first career points with two PATs against Idaho. However, Freeman has an opportunity to win the kickoff specialist role left vacant with the graduation of Jared Smolar.

He averaged 68.5 yards per kick and was also an All-Academic Big Ten athlete last season.

Freeman walked onto the team during his freshman year at IU and redshirted his first season, but made one kickoff during a game against Rutgers.

In high school Freeman was a three time all state selection and posted a 78 percent touchback rate. He also included three game winning field goals. Freeman was also quite the soccer player, winning a state title in 2019 and was named Indiana Soccer Gatorade player of the year and was an all-American.
