2022 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 58 Days (Chris Bradberry)
/Written by: TJ Inman (@TJHoosierHuddle)
The 2022 Hoosier Huddle Countdown is more than 40% complete as we hum along near the end of the linemen portion of our marathon. Today, we dive back into the offensive line for one of the final times on this countdown (only three more OL remain) and take a look at Chris Bradberry.
Name: Chris Bradberry
Hometown: Rancho Cucamonga, California (Riverside Community College)
Position: Offensive Line
Year: RS Senior+
Height/Weight: 6’6”/306 pounds
Chris Bradberry traveled a bit of a winding road to get to Bloomington. He played offensive line at Etiwanda High School in Rancho Cucamonga, California, graduating in 2016. He committed to San Jose State University and redshirted the 2017 season for the Spartans. Bradberry chose to leave SJSU, heading to Riverside City College. He played the 2018 and 2019 seasons at Riverside and helped the Riverside City Tigers to a perfect 13-0 record as they averaged 49.6 points per game.
It's incredibly difficult to know how a player is going to translate from Junior College to the FBS, particularly when a player is jumping up to the Big Ten. Bradberry chose to make that leap on July 9, 2020, committing to the Hoosiers over several other offers. He has not been able to crack the rotation, failing to see any game action in 2020 or 2021. With a new offensive coordinator comes a new scheme so it’s possible the change puts Bradberry into a position to earn some playing time. However, the veteran is still expected to be behind at least eight players that seem locked into starting or rotation roles. A good summer and fall is essential if Bradberry wants to see the field in his final year of eligibility.
