The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff is almost halfway complete! For the 100 days leading up to kickoff, we at Hoosier Huddle will feature every player from the 2022 roster in anticipation of Indiana’s first game of the season against Illinois in Bloomington. Today, we will highlight a new member to the Hoosiers via the transfer portal, Patrick Lucas Jr.

Patrick Lucas Jr (Redshirt Junior)

Hometown: Prattville, Alabama

Height: 6’3”

Weight: 320 Pounds

Position: Defensive Lineman

Tom Allen and his staff once again hit up the transfer portal, and once again they found a defensive lineman from Allen’s former school Ole Miss. Patrick Lucas Jr joins the Hoosiers from the Rebels after appearing in 11 games at defensive tackle from 2019 to 2021. He was a three-time member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, the 2020 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll, and the 2019-20 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll. Rated the number 25 defensive tackle nationally and the number 15 prospect in Alabama by 247Sports in his class, Lucas Jr has continued to develop and is now looking for a fresh start with Indiana. He joined the program in the spring and already made an impact in spring practice.

“LeDarrius Cox (a fellow Ole Miss transfer) and Patrick Lucas Jr., just guys that came to us that man, they've really bought into working really hard and are big guys that can move,” said Allen after March 3rds practiced. “I mentioned defensive linemen right there that I think are going to be critical for us to be able to continue to grow our defense.”
