2022 Countdown to IUFB: 32 Days (Anthony Thompson)

Welcome to the 2022 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown! We are now officially underway as we countdown from 100 to the beginning of the 2022 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will take a look at one (or two) players on the current roster and highlight the players' role in the upcoming season. Number 32 on the list is IU legend Anthony Thompson.

Height/Weight: 5’11’’/ 207 lbs

As we head closer and closer to the opening kickoff for the Hoosiers, it is time to pay homage to one of, if not the best Hoosier to ever take the field. Anthony Thompson had a legendary career for IU in the late 80s.

Thompson rushed for 5,299 yards and 67 touchdowns during his career that also included trips to three bowl games in four years. He also held the single game rushing record for a game at 377 yards which he did against Wisconsin.

The two time all-American also won the Maxwell award as well as the Walter Camp awards in 1989. He also won the Chicago Tribune Silver football in that year as well. He is also a member or the College Football Hall of Fame.

Thompson went on to be a second round pick to the Cardinals and played three seasons in the NFL where he scored 6 touchdowns.
