The Hoosier Huddle Countdown continues! The season is less than seven weeks away. Fans cannot wait for an entire season of college football after last year’s spooky season.  The Hoosiers will open their 2021 season at Iowa City to take on the Hawkeyes on September 4th. Both teams have been putting in a ton of work to prepare for the season and are excited to take the field in front of a FULL-STADIUM. That said, today, we are profiling Linebacker Aaron Casey out of the Peach State. @A_casey2

Aaron Casey

Hometown: Douglasville, Ga.

Position: LB

Year: Redshirt Junior

Height/Weight: 6-2/228

A three-star out of Alexander High School in Georgia, Aaron Casey decided to attend the up-and-coming Hoosiers program over Arkansas State, Ball State, Bowling Green, and 17other programs. It’s safe to say he made the right choice. He was ranked well in Georgia (#104) and was the #72 ranked outside linebacker in his class.

Last season, Casey appeared in all eight games. He was productive, posting 15 tackles, ten solo tackles, and one sack. In the most crucial game of the season, the Outback Bowl, Casey posted a line of three tackles, and one of those was for the tackle of a loss.

Committing in the summer of 2017, Casey was in the 2018 class. In his first season in Bloomington, he redshirted and did not see the field but drastically improved his game, earning multiple scout team player of

the week honors in the 2018 season. During the 2019 season, he saw action in 13 games, primarily on special teams. While his playing time was minimal, he was very productive. He made five tackles with one sack and even had a blocked punt in the Hoosiers win over Eastern Illinois. This gave him special team player of the week honors.

Casey will play alongside a very experienced linebacker unit. The unit includes returners Micah McFadden who earned honors of one nation’s best linebackers by PFF and Cam Jones/James Miller. https://twitter.com/pff_college/status/1333399625122844672?lang=en

It is impressive to see Casey, who redshirted his first season, take pride in his game. In an interview three years ago, Casey knew that he needed to work on his game, and he did https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtmPxdirOp8. With his experience and determination to end the season on a solid note, don’t be surprised if Casey is more productive and forces a lot of havoc on opposing offenses this season.
