We are less than six Saturday’s away from the Hoosiers kicking off the season at Iowa. With 41 dyas left in our Countdown to Kickoff we look at former four-star defensive lineman and Carmel (Ind.) native Beau Robbins.

Name: Beau Robbins

Hometown: Carmel, Indiana

Position: Defensive Line

Year: Redshirt Sophomore

Height/Weight: 6’5”/260 pounds

Beau Robbins was one of the jewels in Tom Allen’s 2019 recruiting class. Robbins was a consensus four-star prospect by ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports. He was named a Indiana Football Coaches Association (IFCA) Top 50 selection in 2017 and 2018, a three-time IFCA All-State (2016-18) and named to the 2017 and 2018 IndyStar Super Teams ... He played on the 2018 All-USA Indiana team. He had a monster senior season as he posted 82 tackles, 17 for loss, six sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries (1 TD) and one blocked kick as a senior. In his career Robbins was a three-year starter and led Carmel to a 2016 state championship, the 2017 semi-state and a 2018 state runner-up finish. He was ranked the No. 4 prospect in Indiana, the No. 29 defensive end nationally and the No. 242 prospect nationally by ESPN.

Since coming to IU Robbins has played in two games over two seasons as he has been developing in the weightroom and on the field as a three-time Scout Team Player of the Week.

Robbins’ had the misfortune of having 2020 spring practice cancelled, but made up for lost time in the practices leading up to the Outback Bowl.

“I just think, like a guy like Beau Robbins, to me, is just really kind of starting to come into his own. I think these extra practices and all the work he has done this year is starting to show up. So, I am excited about him.” Indiana head coach Tom Allen said.

If Robbins can continue to come into his own as a player, he could find himself in the mix on the defensive line, which has three talented transfers coming in to fight for playing time. He is still young and has three years of edibility left, so it’ll just be a matter of time before he becomes a piece of the defensive line rotation.
