The Hoosier Huddle Countdown continues! The season is only 25 DAYS AWAY; fans, coaches, players, and our staff cannot wait to see this team on the field.  Indiana Football will open their 2021 season at Iowa to take on the #16 ranked Hawkeyes on September 4th. Both teams have been putting in a ton of work to prepare for the season and are excited to take the field in front of a FULL-STADIUM. Today, we are profiling veteran defensive back Jaylin Williams.

Jaylin Williams

Hometown: Memphis, Tenn.

Position: DB

Year: Redshirt: Senior

Height/Weight: 6-0/182

A senior out of the excellent volunteer state, Williams has been a productive player ever since he committed to the program in August 2017. He started all 12 games his freshman year for the Hoosiers program and was effective from the get-go. He tallied 22 tackles, 19 solo, one sack, one interception, and two pass breakups. His first career interception game against Maryland on November 10th in Indiana’s 34-32 victory. The following season 2019, he appeared in all 13 games at cornerback, starting in eight games. In total, he had 19 tackles, 15 solo, one interception, and three pass breakups. Last season Williams improved his game drastically; he racked up 30 tackles, 26 solo, one sack, and four interceptions. He was tied eighth in the country for interceptions.

A three-star in the 2018 class, according to https://247sports.com/player/jaylin-williams-45573442/ Williams decided to attend Tom Allen’s program over offers from Ole Miss, Ball State, and Colorado State. He has terrific speed, running a solid 4.5. To add, he has solid tackling skills and coverage skills, which will cause havoc for opposing Quarterbacks. Jaylin Williams is a dawg and precisely the type of guy Tom Allen wants on this program. Recently he was ranked the 22/30 top players in the B10 for the forthcoming season. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ezq0n8tge5A

This season, Williams will look like a leader on this defense along with vets Taiwan Mullen and Micah McFadden. All three guys have a ton of experience and know what it takes to win a ball game. That said, all of them had to see their seasons end on a low point the past couple of seasons.  You can guarantee that the unit is working hard to make sure that doesn’t happen again. It all starts game one against Iowa, and if they can get off to a good start, the momentum will hopefully carry them to Indianapolis for a B10 championship.
