So Trump had to make an Iran war to get gas prices back up. The Biden admin did it all by themselves. Seemed like Biden admin went to war with the gas and oil industry.
No longer care about gas prices. I support the Biden Green Deal or whatever that was. Have they posted how many animal lives they have save with those overpasses that were in the bill. Anyway, I bought a Suburu Trailseeker which is the EV version of the Outback. It was same price. There are not many places to charge vehicles in less populated areas like West Texas. I thought biden was going to roll out plenty of EV chargers. He didn't even know what day it was so he probably has no memory of that. Probably gave that money to Ukraine.
You can blame Biden for inflation, but the gas prices are mostly not his fault.
1) Russia invading Ukraine drove prices up. I know the MAGA here will claim that Russia would not have invaded Ukraine if Trump was president, but that's impossible to prove one way or the other. It happened, prices rose. The only way Biden could have affected things would be if he made an escalatory response to Russia militarily, and god knows how that would have turned out. Likely worse.
2) Trump's 2020 OPEC deal was badly written. In Trump's first term (~2018 ish) he got the Saudis to increase oil production to help lower gas prices. He did that by promising to maintain sanctions against Iran. The Saudis were dumb enough to believe him, because a year later Trump removed those sanctions. The Saudis were pissed. So flash forward to 2020 and Covid hits. Trump goes back to the Saudis and (rightfully) asks them to decrease production. The demand for oil had tanked and Trump needed the supply to drop to help keep the few remaining full-time oil workers in America out of the red (the 2020 OPEC deal). The problem is, it was a long-term contract and the Saudis were smart enough to see the future and know that demand was going to skyrocket once the vaccines rolled out (and they were pissed at America for going back on their word about Iran sanctions). So instead of having the OPEC 2020 deal have quarterly reassessments to adjust output accordingly, the production remained below demand all through 2022, prices rose, and Saudis laughed all the way to the bank as oil companies posted record profits in the area of 900 billion (profit, not revenue). Biden went to the Saudis to get them to increase production and they told him to pound sand. I suppose you can legitimately argue that Biden was weak and could have forced a renegotiation with the Saudis, but he had a poor position to work from (after all, we had just signed an agreement two years before), so you can only blame him so much.
I saw on the news last night where diesel fuel in CA in some places has gone to $10 a gallon. Their signage with only one digit for dollars (such as $9.99) doesn't allow them to even post the price.

Trump is now blaming the price of diesel on Ukraine. Says their targeting of Russian refineries is causing the shortage and "hurting the world." No way the shutdown of Hormuz could be the primary issue.

I mean, Trump is not wrong in that the Ukraine attacks on Russian refineries is increasing gas / diesel prices (it's only about 10% of the reason overall, but still a factor). Trump doesn't seem to want anything to do with the Russia / Ukraine war right now, so Ukraine is doing the things they have to in order to bring attention back to the fact that they are still in the midst of a war against a superior force.

@squeakyclean no one cares. I pulled a hamstring in the second half of my game today. Figures since i was out I’d run and make a beer run so we had them for after the game. We play at a complex in a burb called chesterfield. I drove across the bridge to the next co to get gas and beer and paid $5.09 a gallon. I have NECER paid that in the state of Mo. ever. Boat gas in the Ozarks. Maybe. But that’s it.

This is just another example of Trump publicly rebuking a US partner/ally and coming down on the side of an autocrat.
Yes, Ukraine is going after Russian refineries but they wouldn't be going after anything if fucking Putin hadn't illegally invaded the country and presided over the systematic abduction of 20,000 Ukrainian kids and babies, the killing of 17,000 civilians, and the displacement of 10 million people.
We'll see more of Trump's dictator ass-kissing when he meets with commie Xi Jinping soon.
Welp this doesn't seem like it's going to help prices. 🙁
