I don’t think the case is summarily dismissed, enough factual issues about reasonableness to get to a jury. Company will settle. 4 kids? Too risky not to settle. A verdict would be well beyond limits.

I have been to Moontown Brewery a few times. I really like their smash burgers, and the setting in the old gym is wonderful.

Uh, I’ve lived in downtown Indy for over 10 years, and worked on the near east side for over 35 years.
This happened in Whitestown, btw. Not exactly a diverse, bustling urban metropolis. In fact, it’s probably full of hayseeds…like this guy.

I think you're being pretty unfair to people here. Most people are trying to explain how someone could have done this, but they're also saying he overreacted. Whether it will end up being a crime is up to the jury. I'm not sure why we can't recognize this a tragedy for the woman and her family but also try to figure out why the guy did what he did.So, shoot an unarmed maid standing on the porch at 6:50 am (not the middle of the night, btw), without warning or announcement of intention, and some of you will bend over backward to defend this coward.
Shoot a rioter, leading a mob trying to break in through a window of a government building, after she has been warned several times, and the shooter is a murderer.
What a world.
One thing everyone is missing from the story I read was that the guy apparently had only had a few hours sleep at the time he was woken up by the sound of someone trying to get into his house. I bring it up not to justify his actions, but to explain that he might not have been firing on all cylinders when this happened.

Good thing the guy had a gun, and was able to find it in his "safe room" (he didn't have it with him at first) to help him focus and get all his cylinders in order. (Very apt metaphor, btw.)
