Not so fast my friend!

I am sure he feared for his life because someone was on his porch.
No one should be rooting for him to escape justice
I was commenting on what should happen, not what will happen. Another layer of the sadness of this story.Oh, and throw the book at him.

Without all the pertinent facts and details, tragic for all parties involved. I'm left with way more questions than answers at this point.
A good friend will bail you out of jail, but your best friend will be sitting next to you in the cell saying "that was f***ing awesome"
@bulk-vh impossible to say without more facts as all4you said. But damn seems trigger happy as hell. It was 7 am not 2 in the morning. Look out the window. Say hey who is at the door? Weird
In many states, the castle doctrine requires the intruder to be illegally in the home, not just trying to open a door. Indiana’s law is unreasonable itself, but it’s the law.
I’m sure that will be a huge comfort to her family. In many states, the castle doctrine requires the intruder to be illegally in the home, not just trying to open a door. Indiana’s law is unreasonable itself, but it’s the law.
As I said, I was commenting on the should.

You have no idea what justice is.Oh, and throw the book at him.

@bradstevens defense attorney’s first task is to get rid of that middle part
Defense attorney's main task will be weeding snakes like hurryinghoosiers out of the jury box. I believe a guy like Bulk would admit his upfront bias in response to questions, but dishonest people like HH will try to lie to get on the jury to achieve "justice."@bradstevens defense attorney’s first task is to get rid of that middle part
I don't know what to make of the case. The linked story is actually pretty in depth for this stage of a case. I don't know how much changes. Based on it, I personally would have a tough time thinking the guy acted objectively reasonably, but would also have a tough time finding he didn't subjectively fear someone was breaking into his home. A tragedy all around.
@bradstevens it is. And they obviously didn’t have money or she wouldn’t be cleaning houses. No way to sue. Homeowners covers accidental shootings. Not intentional. So those 4 kids have no mom and no money when they turn 18
My only "upfront bias" in this case is that this guy shouldn't be allowed to shoot a woman standing on his porch in broad daylight without announcing himself or giving warning of his intentions.Defense attorney's main task will be weeding snakes like hurryinghoosiers out of the jury box. I know he probably won't be found guilty, but I hope his guilt is crushing, and he is never allowed, even by his friends, family, and neighbors, to be comfortable with the consequences of his actions.
