We'll see, but the polls are all trending toward Talarico. That wouldn't be happening if Cornyn had been nominated over the corrupt, possibly criminal, and clearly unlikable Paxton. There are a lot of elected Republicans in Texas that aren't backing him.

This year more than ever, I can’t think of any reason to support a Democrat. II don’t care how corrupt Paxton might be. Democrats who support DSA will be worse.
Fortunately, there are only 120,000 members of the DSA and they sure as hell shouldn't be supported. It should be crystal clear that I'm not supporting DSA or even Democrats. I've been commenting on the stupidity of Republicans for nominating deeply flawed candidates like Paxton over Cornyn (who I voted for during my years as a Texas Resident and would vote for again if possible) and setting up a very possible Democrat victory in Texas. TEXAS, FFS! Jeebus, we have stupid people in the GOP right now and they're the dominate faction. I think their stupidity has really set up a possible (maybe probable) Democrat takeover of the Senate.

Cornyn would almost certainly win, Paxton has a good chance of losing. That has nothing to do with me. I don't live in any of the states where that's likely to happen with a Senate candidate. Once again, the stupids voted for an extremely flawed candidate in the primary and that has made it more likely the Democrat would win. Democrats, many Independents and a good portion of Republicans won’t vote for Paxton. That wouldn’t happen if Cornyn was the nominee. That’s all I’m saying and the polls indicate it’s accurate.

Trump isn’t on the ballot and his popularity is so abysmal the Democrats in many states are putting him on it in their campaigns. Polls also show Republicans are less enthusiastic and less likely to turnout this year and the reason is partially (primarily) due to Trump’s abysmal popularity ratings. He’s more of an anchor than a help now. Like it or not, things are looking worse for Republicans in 2026 pretty much every day.

Not sure how or why you can be so absolute about this. It wouldn't exactly be surprising, depends entirely on the electorate that turns out.
We've seen Republicans win statewide Senate elections in Illinois and Massachusetts, and Democrats win them in Indiana and Alabama... All within the last couple decades. You get a national trend along with a poor candidate and it's enough to skew results.
Cruz beat Beto by like 2 points in 2018, and Cruz doesn't have the baggage of Paxton.
I don't know what the hell will happen. But I'm not going to be surprised either way. As I've said many times on here, it's about turnout, and going to be difficult to get the low intensity GOP leaner to show up in this climate.
