Trump's Socialism

Without a doubt, the Trump administration is the most socialist administration we've seen since LBJ.

$550 billion in a sovereign wealth slush fund from Japan that Trump and cabinet will decide how to disburse. Taking a 10% stake in Intel.

Free market capitalism is dead. DC and Daddy Trump will decide how to best allocate capital.

All socialists should rejoice. They've got a champion in control of everything. Central planning has a great track record

Were you sipping on that devil water last night?  They say the truth comes out when you're drunk.  You're starting to sound like a young, blossoming Bitcoiner.  I'm going to keep watering you on here until you're orange pilled.

That is an insane thing to say. The Intel deal is an outgrowth of the CHIPs act's misguided attempt to prop up flailing U.S. chip manufacturers. I was vocal in my opposition to that at the time; were you?

The Wealth Fund is dumb, I agree. I'd remind people that capital from the Saudi Sovereign Wealth Fund already flows freely though out our Fortune 100. So foreign governments exert control over our companies, I guess our own government is marginally better.

The fund can be dissolved quickly in the next administration anyway.

@mcm666 that's fair. You're taking the worst of it.  Unfortunately, I don't see them going away anytime soon.  I think the next Democrat or Republican President will keep them in place.  They might tweak them some, but that's about it.  It's become a national security issue and the government does whatever it wants if it's deemed a national security issue.

And anything can be deemed a "national security issue." Started with Nixon.

@carramrod of course I was opposed to it. I don't flop around like a fish on the dock regarding my positions, like most. Taking a direct investment stake in one floundering company by the federal govt is abhorrent. And exponentially worse than anything the crazy Dems ever considered trying.

Same for applying a $3-500b/yr consumption tax on the American public by executive fiat.

Meanwhile supposed free market Republicans navel gaze. Pitiful.

No shit. You think the govt is ever going to give up that revenue stream once the faucet is turned on? Of course not. And we'll all suffer becoming a poorer nation in the long run. It will be Trump's legacy impact. Out only hope is the the SCOTUS shows some actual backbone

@snarlcakes it’s added probably 25 percent generally. I was wrong thinking logistics and customs would be the problem. They’ve been seamless. You just pay the shipping co. Super simple. But it has raised our costs considerably on shit we ship here AND raised them on raw stuff we send there to manufacture.  It’s been much worse than I anticipated from a financial standpoint

How far removed we are from Lee Iaccoca taking a loan and paying it back early.

From that to banks getting bailed and not paying it back.

To direct stakes in American companies that can't compete.

Preach brother.

Hurting the President's feelings is now apparently a national security issue. How in the world can we allow a comedian to have 97% of his comments be anti-Trump? Something must be done!
