Depends on which source you use for the definition of pedophilia. Many if not most of then do have the "prepubescent" or "under 13" specification that you cling to, so thank you for bringing that up. Proper language is important.
Then again, I am not sure that labeling someone a pedophile is much worse than labeling them a sexual predator of minors, especially when the minor is in the service or employment of the predator.
Other definitions are much less specific or open it to early post-pubescence.

FWIW, a judge called him a pedophile. I don't think it matters too much. Not saying Mc is, but some out there are trying to normalize 14 and 15 year olds. So I would be content to use pedo just to prevent that from happening even if the psychiatric community thinks it just misses their definition. Grown men going after 14, 15, 16 year olds is wrong. Don't leave an opening for it to be normalized.
