Feel free to explain it to me.  I'm the freaking engineer in the room.  When you say graft, my brain goes to a place of root grafting / shearing machines or 100's of hours of watching bad medical dramas with bone grafts.  Pretty sure neither of those definitions apply here.

@big-ryan honestly the slush fund isn't nearly as bad as teh agreement for the irs not to pursue him personally for prior filings etc.  that's just blatant graft.  @hurryinghoosiers graft hickory.  not grift.  they mean different things.  your lesson for the day.  we're going to educate you where the school system failed

Just because it fits both grift and graft doesn't mean I used "grift" wrong.   Lot of Trump's grifts also qualify as graft.  And almost all posters here use the term grift so the only reason you are attempting to incorrect me is because you don't like me pointing out your stupidity.

Just so you can educate yourself before trying to incorrect someone.

  Grift Graft
Definition A petty swindle, fraud, or confidence game. The abuse of power, office, or public trust for personal gain.
Primary Actors Con artists, scammers, or street-level tricksters. Politicians, officials, or those in positions of power.
Method Relies on psychological manipulation, false promises, or trickery. Relies on bribery, embezzlement, or insider influence.
Scale Often a one-on-one con or a small-scale operation. Systemic; usually involves large amounts of money or institutional power.

The fact that the MAGA morons defend Trump's grift (and graft) is pathetic 😉

Yup.  I've done some more structural engineering study since then, making sure that the things I said back then were still mostly accurate.

Grift...graft, graffiti, whatever. I just hope no one one this board cries "witch hunt" or "government weaponization" when Trump is eventually impeached and potentially prosecuted.

What do you think he should be prosecuted for this time?

They could start with a proper investigation on insider trading.

Actually, OG, that shit would be illegal if, for example, J. Edgar Boozer were doing it, but there's a carveout for the president.  It's still grossly unethical, though.

None of this was an issue before because there was never (at least not in recent decades) rampant corruption by a US president before.

Before Trump, recent US presidents have dumped their stocks before assuming office, put their money in broadly diversified funds or set up a blind trust so they couldn’t even know what they owned.

The blind trust route was taken by George H.W. Bush, then Bill Clinton. George W. Bush, the son, dumped his stocks. Barack Obama was in broadly diversified mutual funds. Joe Biden didn’t trade.

Trump keeps shitting on democratic norms.

@big-ryan

The money goes from the general fund to those who either don’t do anything for payments, fake services for payments, or just steal it.  No other equivalency is required.

I have no idea what that means.

What's the nexus between the underlying case (Trump suing the IRS because a contractor leaked his tax returns) and the beneficiaries of the 1.776 bil fund?

Finally, you didn't answer this question: You cool with cop-beaters and other violent offenders tapping into the fund?
