It is true both parties suck. Which returns to the idea parties should be banned.
At an absolute minimum, that party voting lever some states like Indiana has should be eliminated.
@goat the better question at this point is why would anyone call themselves a dem? Why would anyone think of the midterms and hope a dem wins? Thats insane.

I think the majority of people would be behind getting rid of political parties and/or doing ranked voting. The problem is the parties are in control and I don't think either party would support that.
Most people despise the other party that they wouldn't risk voting for a third party candidate because it would be seen as a wasted vote because no one believes someone outside a party would win.
I personally think we should get districts reset by a non-partisan committee in all state (not going to happen given the party in control of the state would have to play fair) and everyone should get to use ranked voting so people are free to vote their choice without worry that they were helping their last choice. Presidents should also be selected by popular vote. Voters should count the same regardless of where they live and how dense the population is around them.

The Oval Office has never before been occupied by someone with Trump’s putrid stench of open corruption and gross incompetence. The legislators who have enabled this shit show need to go. Obviously they won’t be voted out in deep red states, but getting the Speaker’s gavel out of little weasel Mike Johnson’s hands would be a plus, as would MAGA Pubs losing in battleground districts. We need divided government for Trump’s final two years in order to contain the dirty, doddering, demented old fool.

So almost 25% means 75% +/- a couple of points of Republicans are better off. Even with Trumps big screw up of aligning with Israel and getting in this Iran war thing that seems pretty good.
IMO, Government being the solution to everything is the Democratic Party way. The use hate and racism as their platform. I'll never align with anyone that puts Democrat by their name. That doesn't mean I'll vote Repubiican. American politics are corrupt and a joke. Elections are rigged and not fair. What is the point of primaries divided into 2 parties. I'm all for only 2 candidates in 2028 November election but how to get there is a mess. It is all outdated.

There are other ways of dealing with national security.
As to controlling interest. Suppose you owned a sports team, we will make on up, called Liverpool. You are about to play another called, another crazy made up name, Manchester United. You discover the head official owns 8% of this bizarrely named United team. Are you upset?
These companies the US owns stakes in compete against companies the US owns nothing in. In many ways the government is a referee, a judge. Maybe trademarks or patents, OSHA, trade negotiations, etc.
@arthur-dent I get it but without control they’re effectively just investors. It’s not much different than awarding gov contracts to x and y but not z. I think.
