Midterms are historically a referendum on the president. This president's approval ratings are in the shitter. He's waging an unpopular war with inconsistent messaging and no exit strategy, and his actions have driven up prices. Dem Socialists (who Trump now calls communists) are clearly NOT taking over the country but are the new boogeymen in an effort to distract/deflect from Trump's failings, rile up the base, and get out the MAGA vote.
No matter how you try to slice it. Your party sucks. A Muslim communist and his band of socialist democrats taking over the largest city in the U.S. and financial capital of the world is a big deal. Democrats will suffer because of it in the midterms. It should be an easy sweep for you guys.
New York City had a Democratic Socialist mayor in the early 1990s. The country didn't become a socialist state then and it won't now. The support isn't there, as the Pew Research Center article confirms.

@big-ryan no they didn’t. Dinkins policies were center Dem and and he continued to move away from that shit. He was technically a card carrier but not remotely like AOC and mamdani. I was in college studying poly sci those years
@big-ryan the support matters little. It’s who the party backs. Our choices here are Wesley bell and Cori bush. That’s it. Most people don’t support them but that’s it. And I ran into Wesley just Thursday at the grocery store. I know him. Never meet a nicer guy. But already totally bought in on dc bs. Pelosi here last night helping him campaign. Our choices in politicians are horrific.

@bar-down Why are you arguing that? Dinkins was before my time and I'm not defending him. I simply pointed out the fact that he was a Democratic Socialist mayor of New York City long before Mamdani.
Here's what the DSA's website said about Dinkins when he died:
"Dinkins’s involvement in organized democratic socialism rose and fell throughout his life, but he was never ashamed to be associated with the socialist cause. In 1990, during his inaugural year as mayor, Dinkins gave a welcoming speech to a meeting of the Socialist International organized by DSA."
@big-ryan because his policies were centrist. He actually increased the number of cops etc. I don’t care what club they belong to I care about their policies. I graduated college in 93. We studied nyc and San Fran extensively. DSA today would absolutely hate him. There has never been anything remotely like mamdani in nyc. And dinkins was a terrible mayor but he was not pushing socialist policies
