MAGAs may have blown it in Texas by picking Paxton over Cornyn in the primary. Cornyn was predicted to win the general pretty easily, now it’s tight because Paxton is a MAGA crap show with a ton of ethical baggage.@goat yup. And will lose the house so that’s that
I honestly don't pin the upcoming midterms on him anymore than I pinned 2024 on Biden. You know my take on this. Everything is the cost of living crisis. That's just issue 1, 2, 3, and 4 for voters right now.
Part of me thinks the Senate isn't quite the fever dream it once was, but another part thinks we blew it in Maine and might blow it in Michigan. We'll know more tonight.

That's part of the calculation. Ossoff has to win, but that should be no problem. Cooper should be a shoo-in, giving the Dems one flip. Brown looks like he has a good shot at getting Dems another flip. Maine was there for the taking, but that's really really doubtful now. Michigan is a must win; not sure where that stands now. So what's left are AK, IA, and TX... and TX looks like the best chance of a flip among the three. Still not enough though.

NC, GA, MI, and OH are gone for Republicans. ME, IA, and AK will be very tough but not impossible. Paxton should win but the Republican establishment wants him to lose so he has no money similar to what McConnell did to Walker and Lake. Ask yourself why they're throwing a fortune into NC and GA when the Republican has no shot.

I was a Texas resident while in the Navy and I voted for Cornyn every time he ran for Senate when I could. MAGA persists in getting rid of good Republicans and replacing them with candidates that have less chance of winning the race that matters most - the general. I believe MAGA will eventually make themselves an extremely annoying, but largely irrelevant political group.
@aloha-hoosier you’re head is in the sand. I don’t understand why. Just wrongheaded. Your republicans are dead. Literally and figuratively. They haven’t won’t the White House in decades. Very few people want them. The country is only moving farther left. Maga is the only hope and chance for pubs coupled with how stupid Dems are. Dems pander to the dumbest Americans. Dirt poor. Uneducated urbanites. Immigrants. And academic creeps. If Dems punted socialists and went after Clinton Dems they would takeover this country. They would win every election

It's "your," but you're wrong. A MAGA led Republican party just can't last. It's too dishonest, too uncivil, too stubborn, too cult-like, too stupid, too repulsive and too unattractive. The level of outraged grievance that motivates MAGA so much is unsustainable. The Republican party won't be exactly the same as it was before MAGA after MAGA implodes, but MAGA will implode. If the Republicans punt MAGA, it'll be a great thing for the party and for the country. That party will prevent Progressive and Socialist Democrats from winning national elections.
@aloha-hoosier if the republicans punt maga 🤣. Maga is the Republican Party. Your old guard are like fossils hanging on. There’s nothing left of them. And don’t correct my spelling. I’m going fast. It’s tacky. I’m far more educated than you.
And don’t correct my spelling.
I know what my favorite hobby is going to be for the next three weeks.
@aloha-hoosier aloha think about the current political milieu. think about who the voices are on both sides. what they want. compare and contrast that to the decades ago when an old school republican won with bush.
taxes - that mother fckr lowered the top individual rates, cut the top tax rate on corp divs and cap gains, and raised exemption limits and reduced rates with an eye towards phasing out estate taxes. he wanted private ownership of social security. he defended the continued military presence of us in iraq and afghanistan. he wanted to cut fed regs on businesses. wanted to restrict abortions and backed a fed marriage amendment to constituionally define marriage as between a man and a woman. and i mean i get things evolve and adapt but you put any of your former republican party in today they'd be so anachronistic they wouldn't have a shot in hell save very specific old school parts of the country. zero chance nationally.
the country just keeps moving farther and farther left. maga is the republican party. and honestly trump this term has been right of maga and that's why many maga are pissed

They will eventually punt MAGA. MAGA is a declining portion of the Republican party. They're almost played out and they're not liked by most of the country. Can't win national elections that way. I think once Trump is done, MAGA will be done. All the hats will go away (mostly are now) and people will deny they were ever MAGA. Most will claim they didn't even vote for Trump. It'll be like Peter denying Jesus, except they'll do it forever instead of three times. LOL!
The percentiles say that it's almost certain that my IQ is higher than yours, and I don't think you're better educated. I have two grad degrees and both of them and my undergrad degree are all considered tough degrees. I know you have a JD, but that's got to be an easy degree. @dbmhoosier has one. 😉
On second thought I think Republicans will sweep every state.

As I said, the post-MAGA Republican party won't be the same pre-MAGA Republican party, but it sure as hell won't be the current MAGA Republican party.
@aloha-hoosier the former Republican Party fckd people behind their backs. But at least they were polite to their faces right.
the country took a hard left. Old Republicans have as good a shot at a comeback as a woolly mammoth
@aloha-hoosier you wouldn’t make it through your first year of a good law school. You have a very narrow mind. That thinking would elude you. Military was a good call for you. And trust me. That’s not a compliment.

Business Law class was easy, but enjoyable, and I've thought about law school as a post-retirement past-time. However, once I found out @dbmhoosier was a law school graduate, I decided law school itself wasn't worth the minimal effort it would take. LOL! Also, we have way too many lawyers, am I right?
JAGs worked for me in a couple of my jobs in the military and a couple lawyers worked for me in my post-military civilian job. I know you guys aren't as brilliant as you think you are. That doesn't mean those guys weren't smart or weren't good guys, they were both and probably smarter than you, but I only know you from here.
