I've voted straight ticket Republican except for President the last three elections. I held my nose and voted for several MAGA candidates (or candidates pretending to be MAGA). Yes, Republicans are for controlling immigration. I'm for zero illegal immigration and controlled and reasonable legal immigration. It's one of the many reasons I'm a Republican.
This next election, I will not vote for a MAGA at any level.
Rule number 1 - if the Republican candidate says the 2020 election was stolen, he/she's either too stupid to vote for, or is dishonestly playing to the MAGA stupid. Either way he's MAGA and won't get my vote.
Others - If he places personal loyalty to Trump above the rule of law, traditional checks and balances, and respect for democratic institutions, he's MAGA and won't get my vote. If he defends obvious lies of the President and repeats them, he's MAGA and won't get my vote. If he's extremely dishonest, uncivil, and can't defend his positions honestly, he's MAGA and won't get my vote. If he's an isolationist to the point of harming our national security, he's MAGA and won't get my vote. If he treats our NATO allies like adversaries and our adversaries like Russia and China like our allies, he's MAGA. Republicans are socially conservative, but if the candidate focuses on culture wars above all else and it's perpetually over the top stupid about it, he's probably MAGA.
Of course, none of this means I'll vote for a Democrat because I'm not a Democrat, I'm a traditional Republican, who opposes most Democratic policies. I may just not vote for either candidate in a particular race as I did with Trump in 2020 (left President blank) or write in a candidate like I did for Trump in 2024. I voted Johnson in 2016.
Just before the 2024 election over half of Republicans identified as MAGA - people like to identify with the perceived winner. Now it's about 50 percent and the trendline is down. MAGAs hate Republicans who aren't MAGA possibly most of all, but try winning elections without traditional Republicans. Most of the rest of the country despise him, but who can blame them? The President treats everyone that isn't obviously loyal to him as enemies. He's turned on dozens of prominent Republicans simply because they aren't Trump loyalists for the most part. He explicitly calls Democrats enemies and evil. A normal Republican would consider Democrats as fellow Americans with misguided policies rather than enemies. It's on Trump that he's so massively unliked. And he's getting less popular with nearly every poll:

He'll soon be an anchor on just about every Republican in the midterms - MAGA or not.
Let the MAGA meltdown begin - it's what you do. You're so sensitive and insecure.
We've been shedding you loser liberal boomers for a decade now and the GOP has only gotten stronger. You'll fit right in with liberal ladies and the Tim Waltz of the world. Hell, I'll even give you compliment. You're probably the 2nd coolest dude in the Democratic Party, behind @larsiu. No, shame in finishing 2nd to Lars. He's basically superhero at this point.

you have zero idea of who will benefit this country. Neither do I. You are the same type of person who said the same thing about Irish, Italian, Polish, Jewish and Asian immigrants a hundred years ago.@mrhighlife One side lets in people who don't benefit our country. That's the germane part you continue to miss.
There is information on what groups are net takers. Somalians are one of them. Also, a 100 years ago the federal government was around 1/6 the size it is today and a majority of the spending went towards the military. So, this couldn't have happened a 100 years ago. Also, they drastically cut back on immigration throughout a majority of the 20th century because people don't like mass immigration. That universal by the way in all most all countries.

Where's the outrage, or are people okay with since he's American, it's not as big a deal?
This dude, much like many others, was pardoned for his federal crimes. Seems like Trump doesn't mind fraud after all....
Do you think we should bring in more Somalians? Do you think the % of American citizens committing fraud on taxpayers is anywhere near that of the Somalians?
Who cares what Trump doesn’t mind, why is that relevant to what’s happening with the fraud in Minnesota? Should we not pursue them because Trump? Are you so ate up with Trump that you’re ok with being ripped off?

You didn't watch the video fox put out.
You trying to equate bringing in more Somali people to me thinking fraud is okay is so off base. I'm not okay with any fraud, no matter if they're Somali or any other nationality. Can you say that, because I remember you posting that Americans doing it aren't as big of a deal, so you can skip me the outrage you're showing.
Fraud is fraud, no matter who is doing it. Everyone should be held accountable, yet we have what seems like both parties playing politics with it.
Good non-answer. & crime by foreigners is worse than crime by citizens, yes.
I remember this poster named Jet who was very concerned about voter fraud, and when it was pointed out to him, many times, that the problem was miniscule, and mostly by Republicans, he would respond that even one fradulent vote was a problem, and how could we rest until it was all stamped out.https://www.mcknights.com/news/skylines-schwartz-ordered-to-state-prison-despite-federal-pardon/

Where did anyone say fraud is ok?
The mastermind of a good portion of the Somali fraud story. She should definitely be deported. Sadly though, she will probably get a pardon from President Trump. I wonder white...er... I mean...I wonder why?
What are the benefits of more Somali immigration?
So you won’t ever vote for a Republican that has ever taken a position you consider to be MAGA? I wish politics were that easy. I don’t think I 100% agree with any Republican. I vote for people with whom I disagree with all the time.
@co-hoosier You have a very measured way about you that is impressive and screams experienced leader. If it isn't too personal may I ask what profession you are in?
Retired.
In my prior life I was a Lawyer. More than 5 decades in the same firm, from rookie to big enchilada.
Setting up another fraud scheme???
There are 10 types of people in this world, those who know binary and those who don't.
All of that is outrageous, for sure. But this thread is about the outrageous fraud perpetrated by the Somalian community in Minnesota. Trump's bullshit doesn't excuse this stuffa anymore than Biden's crappy behavior excuses Trump's. It can all be bad and worthy of comment, yes?Why does MAGA tolerate this??
List of those convicted of FRAUD AND THEN PARDONED BY TRUMP. WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE?:
- Philip Esformes perpetrated a MASSIVE $1.3 BILLION Medicare fraud, even deliberately getting his patients addicted to fentanyl and oxycontin in order to keep them buying pills. Trump pardoned him.
- David Gentile perpetrated a $1.6 billion fraud on his investors and was sentenced to 7 years in prison. Trump pardoned him.
- Devon Archer committed securities fraud and was ordered to repay $43.3 million. Trump pardoned him.
- Trevor Milton committed securities fraud & wire fraud and was ordered to repay $680 million. Trump pardoned him.
- Jason Galanis committed securities fraud and was ordered to repay $84.8 million. Trump commuted his sentence.
- Paul Walczak committed tax fraud and payroll tax evasion and was ordered to repay $4 million. Trump pardoned him.
Todd & Julie Chrisley committed bank fraud and wire fraud and were ordered to repay $22 million. Trump pardoned them.-Republican Rep. Michael Grimm of New York was sentenced to prison for tax fraud. Trump pardoned him.
There are more examples. I think most are on the same page about fraud. Especially when it comes to services for children. HOWEVER, Is this thread really about cracking down on fraud or only cracking down on certain people?
He's out. It must be a lot worse than we think.
