SAVE Act

Sounds like Dems are going to shut down the gov’t if voter ID is required.
Dems need the votes, it’s what this has always been about, & is why the border will be opened if they regain power, & is why the Dems here want illegals to be able to vote.  I don’t know why it’s so hard for you all to admit it, right @goat ?

@oneeyedundertaker @shooter @ohio-guy @hurryinghoosiers We have 40 million in poverty.  This is why Dems opened the border and why Dems won’t change policy. The votes. This isn’t hard. They’re turning you into useful idiots.  Don’t fall for it. Obama and Clinton didn’t.

SAVE act is a little more onerous than just showing an ID when you vote.

To register you need proof of citizenship which is limited to one of the following. Birth certificate (I have no idea where mine is, I should fix that), passport (a lot of citizens don’t have passports), naturalization paperwork, or enhanced drivers license (only five states offer this).

That said, I’m a supporter of the bill. We need less people voting not more and that’s not a difficult barrier to entry.

@carramrod most people (including the OP) don't have a clue what the SAVE act is.

Will make it very difficult to register to vote, name change after marriage, even changing your registration address after a move, going to require you going back in person with a BC or Passport.

I think most of the population will find it very annoying, if ever implemented..... One highly bipartisan agreement is opposition to going to the BMV.... Not there it ever will pass. Trump has already called for it to be pulled from the govt funding bill.

Well, since the thread was about the SAVE Act and not what Schumer said four years ago, yeah, I'd say the OP is more telling. On this particular topic.

To be clear, yes, OP absolutely thought (as the Twitter Twit intended) that Schumer's comments came today, as a response to this bill. Yes, Twenty was right to point out he doesn't know what he's talking about. You may disagree with the Dems on immigration policy, but there can be no doubt on the facts at hand on this forum: @oneeyedundertaker is a partisan hack who has little to no understanding of anything he posts about, beyond his own fear of anyone different from him.

@goat Schumer’s video was included in the OP and again in my view is the most imprtant bit. 1) It’s telling as to how we ended up where we are today and 2) debunks claims in other threads that allege Dems have changed regarding the border.  I believe this isn’t a whim; I believe it’s ingrained and if they win again they’ll do whatever they can to open the border again.
Why?  Jobs. Unmet needs?  Or party security as one eyed surmised.  We have 40 million in poverty. A significant portion of same could be put to work.  I agree with the OP. it’s harvesting votes.

This motherfcking phone update ate up my storage and is hell on typing/autocorrect etc.

@sharinincarmel it's only potentially harvesting votes if the Dems could ever pass some form of massive amnesty that granted citizenship. Which is a pipe dream, they has no chance of occurring. No form of amnesty has passed since the 1980s, and even that didn't provide citizenship.

Of course the message is what’s important, but per usual these guys are more concerned with who than what. Nor is the timeline.  What is, is the message from Schumer declaring the intentions of the Dems making it clear why they want open borders & no voter ID.  If you can’t attack the message, attack the messenger.

Disdain does not equal fear.  Yes, I have disdain for those that ignored our laws & came here illegally.  The lack of understanding of a basic concept such as what is a fact certainly explains your career in law…
