Zelenskyy has been after corruption. Good for him. Corruption is a holdover from Soviet occupation and culture. Corruption has carried over into the countries which is why Russia is among the most corrupt countries in the world with former Communist elites now being the heads in the corrupt business world and are the oligarchy that really controls Russia along with Putin (who's also tremendously corrupt and reportedly among the very richest people in the world - and who's not fighting corruption because he's part of it) and in the crime organizations. Ukraine has made some big strides in battling corruption and has become less corrupt since the fall of the USSR. Of course, the job isn't done, but they're trying and Russia is not.Tip of the iceberg.

The initial proposed Peace Plan (the Russian version, basically) isn't popular. Hopefully, they can get the modified one ironed out and stop the war.

I think Putin knows he's not describing battlefield reality now. I think his goal currently is to drive a wedge further between Ukraine and the US in the hopes of facilitating making it the battlefield reality in the future.

No details yet on exactly what Putin says is unacceptable, but my guess are the more limited amount of land to Russia and not conceding the land permanently, security guarantees and size of Ukrainian military are some of them.

Putin is willing to draw this out for 10,20-30 more years. He passed the point of no return 2 yrs ago. Thanks to populations that don't appreciate self reliance (slaves), There are no #'s of meat that they won't spend......... Until Putin is dead as well as the russian Oligarchs that will not resend power.
