@aloha-hoosier I don't know what the old WC is. I do know an angry and abusive man when i see one. You are all over these chains ranting like a crazy person about President Trump. Like you are in an abusive relationship and he is your abuser. Trump doesn't even know you. He says terrible things and has done some good things and some bad things. But he is a saving grace from the last president and the left. The sun is peaking through and I'm going for a walk to get some coffee before it rains. You should do the same. You don't seem to have the disposition to be able to handle political discussions without getting angry.
Agreed, I’ve called him a buffoon in multiple posts recently for outlandish remarks, but we’re getting some of the ridiculous “anyone supporting him is blah blah blah” posts from the usual suspects again trying to tie it to morality. My point is nothing he can say is more important than what he is doing or can do, especially for immigration & DEI rollbacks.
So morality isn't part of the equation?
LOL...same ol' Jet. Just can't get me out of your head.I got nuthin’. You win.It sure is drafty living in your head.”Identities” would probably be more accurate…both at the old WC and here.Walz didn't even run for President. You don't know that? You're clearly dumb. Very dumb.@aloha-hoosier You would rather have a Walz. Sweet caring words and a busload of Somalis dropped off in your neighborhood vs the man who sends out mean tweets and keeps your neighborhood safe? And I'm the dumb one? Because that's your logic. Be grateful for a better country and read the sports page instead of his tweets. Problem solved.
So, are you a coward too? You are if you don't reveal your identity from the old WC so we know your history.
Just FYI, I voted straight ticket Republican in 2016, 2020 and 2024, except for President. I didn't vote for HRC or Harris. I don't have any responsibility for Trump being elected President. The Trumpster/MAGA era will ultimately be considered one of the worst eras in US history IMO.
If your online persona/identity is all lies anyway, why does it matter who someone was previously?
Great, how about answering the question? You’re the one obsessed with it…
fify.
.
@unclemark It is important. But when both parties are immoral it is no longer as important wouldn't you say? Is it moral to push a woke agenda in schools? Is it moral to let criminals free to endanger our neighborhoods? Is it moral to conceal the condition of the President? Is it moral to open the border to allow more voters that you believe will help your party? Is it moral to lie about all the things Kamala and President Biden and Walz lied about? I suspect your "moral" compass is just bias. If we have a moral Dem emerge that would be great. I have not seen one in a very long time.

Not in the context of things that actually impact me & other citizens. Ideally would our President be beyond reproach, sure, but there are no candidates that fit the bill. If you give me a choice between a candidate with the baggage of Trump but will align with what I want on actual issues, or Jesus Christ who will let in every immigrant, redistribute wealth, indoctrinate children, put racist policies in place, or do things that actually affect my life, I’ll take Trump every day. I’m not willing to degrade my quality of life or my child’s future because a candidate has been a shitty person & said stupid shit.
@oneeyedundertaker @sharinincarmel
So morality only counts when it aligns with your policy preferences?

Political expediency has been the default setting IRT politics in the US for as long as I have been politically aware and as such ignoring amoral and immoral behavior in politics is nothing new, goes hand in hand and knows no party bounds.
A good friend will bail you out of jail, but your best friend will be sitting next to you in the cell saying "that was f***ing awesome"
@unclemark You can't be this naive. Kamala slept her way into politics then got to be VP and hid the condition of the President. Every word out of her mouth was a lie and she chose a guy as her partner who couldn't even tell the truth about the smallest of things. So I'm not certain what you are talking about. I have to believe if it was so important to you you refused to vote this past election given how both parties were totally immoral.
For the rest of sensible people they recognized they are all immoral and voted for the person who would do the least harm to the most people. It was the moral thing to do.
@unclemark One last thing before I go. It's been my experience that the people who post things like you do are either very poor or very wealthy. They are the only ones with the luxury to concern themselves with such things. Those raising families and living between the seams have to worry about schools, safety, and all the other daily living things that are far more important to me and mine than what some awful politician writes on Twitter.
I think you can call out his bullshit while still thinking his policies are better than the alternative presented in the 2024 election. There's no inconsistency there. Plenty of people on the right are doing so.https://www.nationalreview.com/the-morning-jolt/trumps-appalling-reiner-reaction-is-a-sign-of-something-deeply-wrong/amp/
The President is a lunatic. There is something deeply wrong with him. Just as there is something deeply wrong with people who still support him and make excuses for his repulsive, immoral behavior.I don’t care about his behavior, I don’t care if he makes insensitive remarks about Meathead. Literally nothing he could say can overshadow the importance of eliminating immigration & DEI, the most damaging policies in decades put in place by blinkards like you. I care about him closing the border, deporting illegals, & eliminating your racist policies, that’s it. The rest is gravy.
Bullshit!
To what end?
Do you think he'll miraculously become some flippin' milk toast soy boy and go on a global 'so sorry' tour?
...calling him out...?
All that matters to people like you is confrontation.
The sole reason this attitude exists is the absolutely feckless Republicans all through federal, state, and local governments, commissions, boards, etc. who refuse to utilize the power Trump's political machine handed them.
Pitiful....
I like the cut of your jib. Welcome to the board. I hope you stick around with your blend of intelligence and straightforward style. Every once in a while we have interesting and thoughtful discussions and I hope you continue to participate.
FWIW, @aloha-hoosier is not a bad guy notwithstanding his strong negative opinions about Trump and those of us who find agreement with some of Trump’s actions.

Words.
Have.
Power.
The right words can inspire someone to keep fighting with everything they've got, even when hope seems lost. The wrong words spoken in a hurtful way can push someone over the edge into taking their own life.
Your opinion is that actions speak louder than words and that the policies that he has implemented outweigh the damage that his "mean tweets" are doing. While I understand that opinion, and somewhat agree in principle, I think you are underestimating the impact of those words.
The constant lying.
Degradation of women.
Labeling of people as traitors (and while not implicitly saying it, deserving of death since that is the standard punishment for being a traitor).
Alienating foreign allies.
Allowing him to continue spouting off unabated will both A) Inspire and encourage the people who follow him to mimic that behavior and B) Justify similar antics from Democrats when they eventually retake power.
I've been saying for years on both this site and the previous water cooler: Escalation. We've been in this constant ramping up of partisanship for nearly 30 years now to the point where unethical conduct that would have ended your political career back then is now just shrugged off by both sides if it is their guy doing it.
The damage that those mean tweets are causing are not immediately apparent, but you are fooling yourself if you think that they are not having an effect. At some point, the effects could very well outweigh any potential benefit that the immigration / DEI changes are causing. There has been pushback on this statement on Reiner, but not enough for him to change his ways since he has already doubled down on them.
If nobody has the balls to tell him to stop, he will keep pushing it further and as I said, words have power. Especially if things go badly next November and Democrats take back the House and / or Senate, Trump is going to get more desperate and likely say something truly stupid (because let's be honest, he can't help himself at this point), inspire the wrong people at the wrong time, and they in turn are going to commit some act that will be tied (guilt-by-association) to Republicans for decades. Jan 6th level chaos X 10. Then all of the progress that you think that is being done by immigration / DEI changes is going to swing back even further to the other side of the pendulum and will likely last longer.
I don't know how to fix this, but UNIVERSAL push back on Trump for this remark and any major lies he spouts off going forward would be a good start.

Of course policies matter more than mean words. Bush got 100k people killed and will end costing the U.S. 10 trillion dollars because of his terrible policy choices. Ideally the President would be both nice and have good polices, but we don't live in an ideal world.

Answer the moron test question, did Trump lose the 2020 election because it was rigged? Yes or no.
