before X existed there wasn't much autism, so X caused autism

X = Google, Twitter, Amazon, IU being bad at basketball, Mountain Dew Code Red, video streaming services, etc.

@shooter uh no. Harvard and others.  And is Tylenol contributing. Along with new screening measures greater awareness etc.   but to understand complex things you have to be able to think.  A ban isn’t being sought.  A warning and with discovery perhaps what Tylenol knows.  Tobacco concealed too. This is a good thing.

@McM666

The results of the largest and best controlled study are clear. I will try again to explain.  You are smart, so try to understand.

Yes, there is a slight correlation between tylenol use (or not) by the mother and autism in the baby, when all mothers are considered together.

Yes, there is HUGE correlation between the mother herself being autistic (or not) and autism in the baby.

There is also a high correlation between the mother herself being autistic (or not) and the mother taking tylenol (or not). Autistic mothers have a much lower pain threshold.

---

Now consider this control done in the largest study (and this is hugely important),

The study separately considered autistic mothers and non autistic mothers,

1) among autistic mothers it made no difference in autism rate whether they took tylenol or not.  ZERO CORRELATION. A higher frequency of autistic mothers did in fact take tylenol, because the mother's autism itself affects her pain levels. A higher number of babies developed autism if their mother is autistic, since there is a huge genetic component.

2) among non autistic mothers it also made no difference in autism rate whether they took tylenol or not. ZERO CORRELATION.

So the overall tylenol correlation DISAPPEARS COMPLETELY when you consider the genetics of the mother. Genetics overwhelms other factors. If the mother is autistic there is a higher probability that her baby will be autistic and a higher probability that she will feel higher pain levels during pregnancy and request a pain reliever, tylenol being by far the safest one, being NOT an NSAID.

no i will come back to this later.  i don't have time to consider it now but definitely will.  i have no preconceived notions other than distrust of drug companies and a bent to err on the side of more information and more warnings so consumers can decide for themselves.  again this isn't a case of banning anything. it's a case of 1) potentially fraudulent transfersish and 2) warnings/disclosures.

but i will read your post and the study when i have a bit more time

Swedes react to Tylenol differently. You said yourself that genetics overwhelms everything else.

Hope that helps.

Sex-change yes, castration no. Just depends on your definition of animal.
