@arthur-dent it went up 237 percent in six years after obamacare. it's an absolute failure. by now it is up 300 percent. if you aren't subsidized, i.e. poor, and make a decent living it is an absolute killer. as well as deductibles. obamacare for evveryone not subsidized took it right in the ass. from obama with obamacare to biden with inflation dems have really cost americans a shit ton of money

@boogie the perfect scenario was not obamacare. it was legislative mandates to cover pre-existing after a set period. medicaid for the poor. insurance like always for everyone else. no obamacare which was a financial disaster. and legislative coverage of pre-existing after six months.
@arthur-dent so it went up 237 percent after obamacare. for this year. 2026. approved plans have a max approved increase of 110 percent. so from the time of obamacare to now you will be looking at probably 400 percent increase. obama set us down this path. and i laud him for covering pre-existing. that was huge. but save that obamacare is an unmitigated financial disaster. some plans will cost more than mortgages on mcmansions

It may have gone up, in 2026 premiums were still lower than group policies. Maybe it was just too cheap to start with.

No, it's a good idea. The GOP senate won't do it because they'd have to implement polices their voters want. Obamacare is the perfect example. It's a terrible policy that f#cks the middle and working classes. However, it will never be repealed because it takes 60 votes, so we're stuck with an awful policy. With the current system it's almost impossible to cut back government when it is implemented. So, over time it just keeps growing.

I don't want either party to be able to pass whatever they want just because they have 51 votes. That doesn't promote compromise and will just lead to pawning the other side once power changes hands.
