@boogie the swap line to Argentina isn't adding to our debt.

How is giving Argentina helping Americans, when they aren't buying from us, buying from China instead, who also isn't buying from us, to the point we have to bail out farmers again.

That money comes from us to bail out farmers, correct?  Definitely helping the debt out.

@bradstevens you're correct. I didn't even know this was a thing and for CNBC to make a story out of it like it's a travesty tells you where the country is now.  I guess when you're desperate for votes you will give away money to anyone, even early retirees. The damn first quote "Bill and Shelly Gall say they'd be rich if it weren't for their medical bills".

I was watching some CNN last night (erin burnett hits a spot) and I told the wife I can't do it. All they do is bitch about Trump this and Trump that. Oh, the east wing. Oh, he's trying to get 230m from the Justice Dept. Ty Cobb (the shitty one) on there yapping.

I'm like, see this is the problem with Dems. Why aren't they focused on the increases the loss of ACA subsidies will cause to middle to lower middle class families. Nope, TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP. Like, you aren't changing anyone's mind here. The people lapping this shit up aren't going to vote for Trump anyway. However, those lower middle class and middle class folks who DID vote for Trump could be swayed with an effective argument. But CNN knows where their eyeballs rest and the advertisers do to.

We're doomed.

9 years ago we were all promised a secret, mysterious, but surely wonderful new health care plan to REPLACE Obamacare, immediately after repealing it.  What happened?

Promises made, promises broken...

Boogie, nobody hates Central Banks on here more than myself.  I send @jdb a Christmas card every year of me taking a shit on the FED.  With that said swab lines are done through Central Banks and don't add to the deficit.  It's for liquidity issues, stabilizing currencies, and etc.

Cool.

That still doesn't answer how giving them a line of credit helps our debt when they are buying from the other side of the world, which is driving us to give bailouts to farmers, which to my untrained eye, will add to our debt.

I assume central banks aren't going to be making that payment to farmers, correct?

You convinced me, Medicare for All

.or maybe just go full UK with socialized medicine. Worried you can't trust your doctor because pharma is giving them money to overprescribe? Go to the British system where all that is illegal.

Bailing out farmers (I assume you mean the U.S. ones) is a separate issue and done by Congress, which they'll always do because they want stable food prices (right or wrong that's the reasoning IMO).

The swap line benefits for the U.S. is it gains influence and access to Argentina and prevents China from getting it. If the U.S. didn’t extend a swap line, China would have extended one.  How would that help the problem with U.S. farmers? Do you think they or the U.S. would be better off if China had more influence and control in Argentina?

@larsiu Dems and Dem leadership aren’t as smart as pubs.  Just reality at this point.  But Trump is vapid.  Why are my groceries so high!!  How much is health insurance going up?!!   Trump isn’t making things cheaper!  He promised he would.  On a loop.  Nothing else

task hickory and his brethren to go to stores and find something more expensive each week. Cars. Wood. Oreos. Whatever.  And fixate on it

Speaker Johnson is getting nervous. The shutdown responsiblity olympics are going to start hurting Pubs soon. God forbid it affects SS/SSDI payments at the beginning of November (I konw I know, that won't happen).

But the Dems messaging is just hot fucking garbage.

Didn't Argentina sign a huge sot bean deal with China right after we signed the deal with Argentina? It seems it didn't stop China.

No clue.  Do they always sign deals with China?  I strongly suspect Argentina is still going to sell commodities to countries around the world 🤫

Yea, those pubs are so smart that they removed their spine and chopped off their balls in their fealty for trump.
