The Democrats put in the sunset date because this benefit was part of the Covid crisis mitigation. Obamacare, as the Democrats designed and intended it, included this trap for the early retirees. I actually agree wtih @snarlcakes and @co-hoosier on this one and I'm in the "we should seriously consider MFA or some other single payor model" camp. ACA was designed for folks who don't/can't get insurance from their employers or don't otherwise qualify for Medicaid/care. It is definitely flawed but Amy K, my sister in centrism, holy shit. These people need to get a job that affords coverage or pay their own way.
I mean, I will probably (market willing!) be able to get out of this fucking shithole of a stress and anxiety experiment I call a job by 60 (I get paid well, I can't complain about that). But I don't expect to get heavily subsidized healthcare unless it comes from an employer.
