The ceasefire and hostage for prisoner swap were the easiest parts. The rest of the 20 point plan will be very difficult. I hope it's achieved.
A Guide to Trump’s Twenty-Point Gaza Peace Deal | Council on Foreign Relations
Taking a victory lap right after the starting gun goes off might be my favorite thing about Trump and MAGA. I love it, I fear it, all that!
Nost surprised that the terrorists didn't do a good job of tracking the dead hostages. They've given Israel a body that wasn't one of the hostages, and it wasn't the first time:
Israeli military says one of the bodies handed over by Hamas is not that of a hostage | AP News
Disarming Hamas is a key part of the deal which is going to be very difficult to make happen. They disarm and there can be peace.

@dbmhoosier i love your emoji's dbm lol. trump would rather have time remove that pic of his head hair than win the nobel
Hamas doesn't care about peace or it's own people. Shocking.https://twitter.com/FoxNews/status/1979868200998433155
About that ceasefire...
Not good.

Both sides still publicly committing to the ceasefire. Hopefully just a hiccup.

Will be tenuous at best for a while.
Hamas (& many if not most Palestinians)will never allow for peace, never. I’m surprised that people think that their ideology, which has been ingrained in them for generations, that they must kill every one of the Israelis, can suddenly be turned off & everyone will live together peacefully. I’d love to be wrong but see zero chance the agreement holds up. There are only a couple of ways this ever ends, one side wiping the other out, or another Arab country taking them. There’s a good reason nobody wants them despite taking refugees from other places.
Regarding the alleged famine in Gaza, this has been making the rounds this week. I have not verified the numbers, but it seems right given the lack of coverage or footage of mass numbers of very emaciated people like we've seen from Ethiopia, Darfur, etc. in the past:

No president can exceed the bounds of article II authority.
I think that's a silly statement. Of course they can. Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. v. Sawyer.

That's a misleading simplification of what's going on. There are several possible explanations:
1. Famine level mortality includes deaths caused by other factors that are exacerbated by hunger, such as disease. It's hard to pinpoint exact numbers, but counting only those deaths directly attributed specifically to "starvation" will undercount them.
2. Mortality is a trailing indicator. The other criteria for famine were met, but people can still survive for a while, even while suffering severe, life-threatening malnutrition.
3. The IPC was too quick to raise the declared level of famine in certain areas.
4. Following on from #2 (and perhaps #3), the ceasefire may have come in time to prevent a fair number of deaths that otherwise would have occurred.
We discussed this before, and it's undeniable that Gaza did not have enough food for everyone, even by the most generous reading of Israel's own numbers. Just how many people died because of it is something we are a long way away from knowing, but for at least those 461 people, "famine" was very real.
Hamas should be questioning whether October 7th was a good idea and should be convinced never to do it again. Incredible destruction:
