So it's you, a red blooded, patriotic American who is getting hit with this tax? Not the dirty foreigners???
@unclemark we're small potatoes. the smallest of small potatoes. i have no idea what boeing or ford or apple etc. does. do they have a different arrangement? different way of paying. no idea. but yes small potatoes like us pay it HERE. so you negotiate it down as part of the manufacturing/production costs. i guess

LOL
Trump's negotiated some great deals. Like the ones with Japan and the EU.
"We'll tax our own citizens at 15%, and in return the Japs and Krauts and Frogs will tax theirs at 0%! MAGA!"
I prefer Trump over Biden. By a slim margin.
Which is incredible because Biden was the worst president in my lifetime, by far.
But now it's closer.
Most tariffs are stupid because they are economic negatives. Trump has taken stupid to new heights. Basically he's a Democrat. These are their old support the unions policies.
The Republicans always step on themselves and become Democrats economically whenever they have enough power. They aren't bright.
Two sides of the same coin. Neither side believes even the slightest in freedom, constitution, responsibility. Both sides believe elections are to decide who gets to tell everybody else what to do. The strong arming that both sides do, harms us all.
@unclemark yeah but you can't look at it solely that way. you can make the pakis pay it or a portion of it and now the qbi deduction under trump will be 23 percent and "permanent." biden would have clawed that back. that's big bucks

Twist it any way you want, these tariffs are a tax on Americans.
Wife does a lot of grocery shopping at WalMart. Most of the bread and baked goods they offer come from Canada. They've all jumped in the last week. She loves to point that out to other shoppers; most don't realize how much of their groceries are imported, and are just now realizing that these recent increases are the result of Trump's tariffs.
Twist it any way you want, t
i'm not "twisting" anything. maybe i need to be clearer. i would lose more money with biden's tax increases than i will under trump's tariffs
remember most business is small business. to extrapolate to the masses and business owners and simply consumers who may or may not pay less taxes but will pay higher goods i can't predict the net result
I cannot imagine there is an adequate supply of roofers, farmers, tradesmen, janitors, etc.
Just a nit, but you're not losing farmers and tradesmen. You're losing unskilled labor in the ag and construction industry.
this def isn’t true for ag. We imagine pickers in fields, but huge dairy, beef, pork, poultry farms rely heavily on very skilled immigrant labor. Running a farm is really hard and takes decades of of experience.
What immigrants are "running" a farm?
What "skilled labor" is being provided by illegals on a farm?
my family in upstate NY runs a small dairy farm and also work at a much larger “corporate” dairy farm that also does beefers. Their crew has lots Hondurans — that’s mainly who they have in Fulton county. Besides milking several hundred cows twice a day at multiple locations, they grow, harvest, run a golf course, lease/ farm extra acreage, run a machine shop, maintain a fleet of farm equipment, fix infrastructure, etc. The logistics of a modern dairy farm are crazy and it’s nothing like, say, a light industrial assembly line.
I’m curious where your perspective comes from

You drink Folgers instant but won’t bake your own bread and cookies?
Seems odd
