@myteamisonthefloor it’s crazy to think how much activity all of the boards had back in the day. My god the basketball boards used to get really nasty. Fun times. As a grunt associate billing in 6 minute increments I didn’t get to enjoy it as much as I would have liked. That said I also followed the basketball team and college bball closely then. The gradual demise of both coupled with the advent of social media I suspect has impacted numbers on these types of boards all over
People lost interest when we lost our identity. The powers that be didn’t understand the importance of the brand that Knight had created.
To be fair, with NIL and shit, identity in college sports is dying everywhere. What is Duke without Kzrysweskicnshakwki? Bama without Saban. Purdue has kept their identity with porkchop though. Lovable losers.

Today is a whole different ballgame. I was thinking about how quickly the university tried to distance themselves from the core identity of the Knight era. Things that made us different. The look of The Hall changed quickly. Commercialization…dogs chasing frisbees during timeouts. They thought his simplicity was holding us back…in reality we lost our identity and became just another program…

Reporting already suggesting both the Chinese and the Russians might hack the system and are influencing voting.
So why doesn't the job get assigned to whoever has the highest membership rating? Clearly, they have the support of the people.
