The concern is the potential for blackmail.

If true, I think this would help Noem’s image.

She and Lewandowsky (possible boyfriend?) under investigation for mismanagement of contracts and possible corruption. Among many shady looking deals, they overpaid by millions for warehouses to house illegal aliens and they're not yet housing any illegal aliens months later.

DHS internal watchdog launches investigation into handling of contracts under Noem, Lewandowski | CNN Politics

Rachel has been all over this. Example after example of them paying 150-200% of market value. Lots of people are making big money on this.

How is it blackmail though? I’ve been reliably informed that all manner of sexual depravity is okay amongst consenting adults. And that we should not pass judgement.

Sticking your dick in a guys ass, dressing up in weird outfits and being “dominated”, pretending to be the opposite gender.

Maybe the Noem family kink was that he liked to dress up as a woman while watching Corey Lewandowski rail his wife.

What’s wrong with that exactly?

Hypocrisy? I don’t buy it. Celebrate this sexual depravity like you do on all other forms

Farva, Farva, Farva. You can do better than this. The potential for blackmail isn't a moral judgment of him. It doesn't matter if his secret is something that you do or do not consider immoral. It matters only if it is of such a nature that Noem herself wouldn't want it revealed, and that desire would be strong enough to tempt her to violate her ethics in order to avoid it becoming so.

I agree with her.

Mock Noem all you want for coming out and talking about shooting puppies. Hammer her on her handling of her cabinet position.  But she can't control her husband's sexuality--I think her alleged affair looks a hell of a lot better now in light of this.

I'm not particularly proud of myself for taking glee in this development, but I'm not ashamed of myself either. I might be if she hadn't tried to portray herself and her family as All American apple pie God fearing family values types. Hoisted on her own petard and all that.

If her husband's sexuality is a problem, there is an oft used legal remedy. I realize others may disagree, but extramarital is for me worse than divorce. Given extramarital is often the cause of divorce, it isn't just me.

But in the long run, it IS a private problem. None of our leaders, none of us, are perfect. Having an affair isn't in any way a knock on her career and it should not be. But she is anti gay rights based on it being a Biblical sin. That is a bad look given extramarital is a Biblical sin (but then again, so is remarrying after a divorce). So if gays lose rights for sin, shouldn't people in an affair?

Yeah Marv, the infidelity thing is hard for me to set aside too. It's something I can't fathom myself, and try as I might I can't put myself in someone else's place and understand it.

Aside: I assume Kristy had to vacate the Coast Guard commandant's home. I wonder if she and Corey are shacking up elsewhere together? I'd hate for him to be out on the street.

Also, they are both in their 50s. You can't just blame hormones at that point.

@unclemark crazy question, do we know which came first?  Maybe his actions are caused by hers?

Kristi Noem is just one instance of a not uncommon phenomenon of couples not really knowing each other, not really being in communication with each other, having in one sense or another superficial relationships.

Like UncleMark, I can’t fathom living a life that way. It’s like living a relationship that you see through a window.

Didn't realize you two were so self-righteous.

To me, every marriage is different. Re extramarital affiars being worse than divorce, I think it's case by case.  If kids are involved, most should probably try to work it out.

I get my feelings on the matter might be considered as such. I try not to judge too harshly, but it's a hurdle for me.

I think it's cool you can admit it.

I'm just surprised given both your ages. That's not a shot, just that of the people I know, the older people have seen so much that their perspective on marriage, relationships, etc. has changed.

Did she really do that? I admit I haven't really paid much attention, but I only remember the dumb "move to S Dakota" commercials and cringy "Mt Rushmore on horseback" stuff.  Assumed she was married, but no idea if she even has kids.
