dude. i get it. I'm going to buy the dip. I read the other day 95% of all Bitcoin has been mined. "It's the new gold" etc etc. But, if it's all owned by large institutional investors, how is different than any other corporately owned asset. has it jumped the shark? Or, does it matter b/c it can be fractionalized.

Unlike all other assets you can't make any more of it, no matter the price.  You can also transact with whomever you want, without the permission of anyone, and have it settle within 10 minutes.

Short term (10-20 years) I think it surpasses gold as the best store of value.  Long term it becomes the base layer monetary system for the globe.

@mrhighlife Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit.  I was perfectly "in touch" inasmuch as I was replying to Shooter's post not your initial post.  With respect to your concern:

"Colder temperatures mean increased natural gas usage, which impacts the delivery portion of customers’ bills. There are two primary components of natural gas bills – the cost of delivering natural gas to customers (shown on the bill as “Delivery Charges”) and the cost of natural gas itself (shown on the bill as “Gas Supply Charges”). TheGas Supply Charge or the cost of natural gas itself is driven by market prices, and NIPSCO does not control or mark up these costs. Delivery Charges cover the cost of safely and reliably operating and maintaining the system that brings natural gas to homes and businesses. These charges go toward maintaining our 18,100 miles of distribution pipelines and 720 miles of transmission pipelines, responding to service calls, and ensuring safe, reliable service for more than 900,000 customers. They also fund system upgrades to improve safety, reliability, and long-term service, as well as financing the cost of those improvements."

you on retainer by Nipsco these days Murt? Nice copy and paste of a bullshit company response by Nipsco.

NG prices have gone up everywhere. Only Nipsco has increased their rates this much. We now have higher Home energy cost in NWI than California.

@mrhighlife California has better weather.  They're claiming it's weather, cost of gas, and infrastructure costs which presumably are Trump tariffs.  Maybe their equipment/facilities are outmoded.  I'm only guessing and sharing their excuse/explanation.  I don't know.  I'm just trying to get through this weekend with a house full of kids who are going to go nuts being on lockdown

Usage should be higher in Indiana. Rates should not be.

NiSource(owner of Nipsco) is a multi billion dollar company that also receives massive government subsidies for infrastructure upgrades. They should not pass any of those cost off on consumers. And certainly should not raise rates by 20%(about average increase), or in some cases 50% to 100%,  over night and without warning.  This really isn't a partisan issue. Not saying you are making it one but some here are it's maddening.

Evidently Trump has heard about this and is considering having Nipsco looked into for gouging. He should follow it up by telling Braun to fuck himself for allowing this happen in the first place.

@mrhighlife Like I said I don't know much about that stuff but I do agree it seems fishy.

Lack of affordability. A hallmark of the Trump economy.  But don't trust your eyes, everything is great!

Yeah if Biden was still president his bill would probably have dropped 50% 🤣 🤣

Anyone else getting ass blasted by Nipsco(or any other energy company) for hearing and electric this winter? It's fucking insane the increases that are happening right now.

These data centers they wanting bill suck up electricity like a sponge socks up water.  I saw a video recently about one and if I recalll correctly it said that one data center used 5mw of power....and it wasn't a big one.

definitely an issue. A bigger issue though is our elected officials in Indiana allowing these massive rate hikes to cover for the data centers and to cover infrastructure upgrades.

One of the reasons Nipsco claims as a reason for the hikes is inflation. But according to some posters here that's impossible since Trump killed all of the inflation. 😂

Anyway...

Natural gas did hit some historical lows during Bidens term.  But also hit some highs. Unfortunately we are back on an upward trend.
