@aloha-hoosier you’re such a simpleton. The point is that who gives a fuck what these people think.  Learn to think for yourself.  Trump is miles better than bush.  And Trump is terrible.

If you think Trump is a better President than Bush than I have nothing in common with you and really seriously question your judgement on anything. I don't think GWB was a great President, but he was exponentially better suited for the job than what we have now

Nothing he says can be taken seriously.

@big-ryan lmao you’re basically hickory.  @twenty yes as bad as Trump is he was markedly better than bush.  Bush was a disaster on both the domestic and international front.  International he started a fake war. Domestically we had the Great Recession.

to obama’s credit he got us out of it

I love the mention of uniparty by some of our MAGA representatives. If one visits progressive message boards they will find that they also use uniparty. Anyone know why that is? The same Russian bots target both.

The term "uniparty", the meaning behind it, what it represents and it's use in political parlance predates bot farms by a decade (or several if you count it's first known use in an op-ed in 1944).

I don’t expect you to read the latter but the consequences of the bush administration were marked and lasting.   Trump has not come close to the damage bush did.  That’s not opinion   That’s fact   Domestic and global insanity

@carramrod shockingly stupid

You'll have to excuse him, he is a USA Inc lifer. He is a company man through and through. I have to reckon he spent much of his career staring @ pics of the CEO (Reagan, H.W. & W) on the wall behind his own desk or that of his boss. It's not his fault.

1) Iraq is in a much better place today. Nobody knows what it would have looked like without the war, but I'm optimistic about it's future.

2) the great recession was not really the result of govt. Bad things happen in the economy and then govt reacts after the fact. No different than Covid era.

As said, I don't think Bush was a very good President, but at least there was some reasonable rationale for why things were done. Instead of just chaos and slapdash decisions disjointed from any reality. And the constant grift.

@all4you 💯 Trump sucks. But people hate his personality and him so much they lose the ability to assess policy objectively.  Now we have people who prefer no cops terrorists and open borders.  Forget what bush oversaw.  Enough psychology to satisfy a ph.d program

@twenty pure nonsense.  Bush economics were garbage. Your dismissive attitude to the impact of the Iraq invasion belies history

we don’t have anything under Trump remotely as consequential and impactful as what bush oversaw

I cant wait for election night so I can see just how far off these so called pollsters and betting markets are. I am guessing they will be way off but they will show up again in two years and do the exact same stuff. Rinse and repeat.

I've been following US politics for most of my life where I was old enough to remember, at least since the early 90s. How far we've come... Straight down the shitter. Every cycle is worse than the last.

For 10 years I've argued that Trump is the worst of the worst. He's been even more pathetically bad than I predicted a decade ago. But the opposition in the Dems have become progressively unhinged during the same time. And what was left of the traditional Republican party just bent over and took it up the tailpipe

The crisis of leadership in this country is hitting a level for freighting than you'll find at your local haunted houses.

We need a national exorcism this Halloween.

This has been brewing much longer than the mid 90's. The distrust in our government predates me by more than a decade and it's been getting progressively worse.

Ike's warning about the military industrial complex.

JFK assassination and the conspiracy theories behind it.

LBJ getting us up to our elbows in VC assholes.

Nixon/Watergate.

Iran Hostage crisis under Carter.

Iran/Contra under Reagan.

Gulf War I and "read my lips" under HW.

"I did not have sexual relations with that woman" and first WTC bombing and dot com boom & bust and the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" under Clinton(s).

Hanging Chads and second WTC attack and the conspiracy theories behind it and Gulf War II on faulty WMD premise and the Great Recession under W.

Crossed "Red Lines" with no repercussions and you can keep your plan and your doctor under this new government subsidized health care and increased fanning of flames widening the racial divide.

These past 10 years with Trump/Biden/Trump are just the increasing distrust in our political institutions coming to a head with claims (from both camps) of stolen elections, pandemic, riots, threats to democracy and the calls to just blow up said institutions and start over.

Hadn't heard about Proposition 40 in California. Wealth taxes have been failures wherever they've been tried, and even a "one-time" wealth tax is a bad idea. Hope voters against.

California’s Proposition 40: The Myth of a ‘One-Time’ Wealth Tax | National Review

I am not in favor of wealth taxes, but I see the concern that drives them. I will pick on Musk, someone at the top end can get totally different loans than you or I. A musk can borrow a million with generous interest and no payback timeline. He can live off that entirely, never having to sell investments. So the investments can grow far faster than those of us who sometimes need capital. Eventually it goes to the estate where there are still ways never to pay taxes on it. Here is Google AI:

• Buy: Wealthy individuals accumulate massive portfolios of appreciating assets like corporate stocks, real estate, or private equity. They take minimal corporate salaries to avoid top-tier income tax brackets. Because asset growth consists of "unrealized gains," no taxes are owed as long as the assets are never sold.

• Borrow: When cash is needed for lavish living, business ventures, or new investments, they do not sell their shares. Selling would trigger a capital gains tax. Instead, they take out a Securities-Backed Line of Credit (SBLOC) or structured asset loan using their portfolio as collateral. Because the IRS views a loan as an obligation to repay rather than income, loan proceeds are 100% tax-free.

• Die: The cycle concludes at passing through a mechanism known as the "stepped-up basis" loophole. When heirs inherit the appreciated assets, the asset's tax cost-basis resets from its original historical purchase price to its current market value on the day of death. Decades of accumulated capital gains tax obligations are entirely wiped away. The heirs can then sell a portion of the tax-free assets to easily pay off the outstanding loans.

Closing the border has been one of Trump's few meaningful accomplishments this term.  I've acknowledged that on multiple occasions.

Your claim that I support terrorists and full term abortions is untrue and fabricated from thin air, but you've distorted the truth so often that you've likely become detached from reality and actually believe the lies you constantly spew.

Here's what you are, in a nutshell (with "nut" being the operative syllable): you're an attention whore.  A clown.  A joke.  But that's ok.  It's a small stage, maybe 10-15 people at this point.  You've driven everyone else off with your incessant personal attacks and bullying.  But here's the thing about bullies.  They usually turn out to be the biggest pussies.
