There is also a distinct level of difference in calling someone "crazy" and falsely claiming that somebody checked themselves into a mental institution.
As for the second part, who knows? Maybe he got the flu, knew that the next month was going to be 20-hour-a-day marathons and decided to rest up before going all-in. Maybe he's got a sick relative. Maybe he decided to catch up on the latest season of Jersey House Wives. There's a thousand reasons that could explain why he needed to take a break.
But you don't know. And conservative influencers who are terrified that a Democrat will win a senate seat in ruby red Texas are so desperate to find any glimmer of hope that their worldview wont be upended that they are willing to cling to any absurd conspiracy theory that rears its head.

According to a quick search, falsely claiming that someone has a mental illness and sharing with a third party opens yourself up to a defamation lawsuit. So most influencers have been smart enough to take it down.

@snarlcakes Now that he's a legit threat, these will be the sorts of things he'll have to spend time answering. There are certainly conversations that need to be had about racism. But that's a pretty definitive statement, that won't likely play well with many voters in Texas. All white people aren't inherently racist, just because they're white. And even if they have built in prejudices, for whatever reasons, not everyone ends up acting on them. Obviously.
Now, is that statement, 6 years ago... in the same ball park of bad statements, deeds, words, etc... that have come from Paxton? Obviously not. I suspect Talarico is lightening his load a little bit, to give more oxygen to the multiple fires that are burning the Paxton campaign right now.

I doubt Talerico will change anything in Texas. He has commercial on but he hasn't said anything that he will do in office. He has not earned my vote. I view as Democrat who uses the race card to drive up hate for votes. He supported the wide open border and called it racist. He complains about money going to election funds but if you google it he has gotten way more than Paxton. Quite frankly, any donation to anyone running for office should be illegal.
Paxton has some accomplishments but he played the gambling is illegal card and claims Texans don't do that crap and shut down FanDuel in the state. I was playing games daily for like $2-$5. Who is that MFer to tell people how to live. He just as bad as the Racist hate Dem party. He has not earned my vote. Even if he has done a decent job as an AG in Texas, to bad.
If Talerico wins, he will be a 1 and done I'd expect. He won't impact Texas being that he will be in the Federal Govt. which needs to defer power to states except for a few things such as military.
