Well, my paper must be REALLY REALLY good, since none of the co-authors are gay, trans, or any other identity other than "chemist", "biologist", and "pharmacologist", none state preferred pronouns, and the paper has nothing to do with anything woke at all. It demystifies the different properties of opioids and postulates how the pain relief vs. addiction or respiratory collapse safety window can be widened.

To speak as little as possible of one's self.
To mind one's own business.
Not to want to manage other people's affairs.
To avoid curiosity.
To accept contradictions and correction cheerfully.
To pass over the mistakes of others.
To accept insults and injuries.
To accept being slighted, forgotten and disliked.
To be kind and gentle even under provocation.
Never to stand on one's dignity.
To choose always the hardest.

there's a difference between a) posting in a vacuum and b) directly responding to false accusations.

Meh...whether in "happy go lucky" mode or "bout to fuck this lib up" mode McMurt's posts were far more entertaining than anything that passed through the keyboard and onto these forums from the likes of Hickory or Shooter. To be perfectly frank, I reckon the only reason anyone ever paid any attention to what they post here on the cooler was when it involved McMurt in some way.
I mean FFS, would we really GAFF if Shooter was published in some science rag if McMurtry isn't here to make fun of him for it? I've had several of my writings published in Penthouse Forum/Letters, which I reckon had more of an impact on reproductive health, mental health and society at large.
Don't see me braggin' on it...

Shilling for opioid manufacturers isn’t “woke” per se. It is evil though.

You are out of your element. Sharing an understanding, at a molecular level, of exactly why current opioids are dangerous drugs is the opposite of shilling for opioid manufacturers.
But for you, up is down and down is up, if your hatred and bias demands it.
It's like writing 100 reasons why Purdue sucks and being called a shill for Purdue.

No, it's not. I am aware of a couple of tidbits your persona has typed on here, just like you may be aware of a few of mine. I would hope you are not dumb enough to be an open book on an anonymous internet message board. Those who do reveal too much are looking to open themselves up to things like having their bosses called, for example. That's complete and utter bullshit.I don't know anything about you.
A cautionary tale:
Once up on a time, on the old Starnews board, there was a guy who was a bit of an asshole, and for reasons I don't remember, this asshole decided to continue to yank the chain of another poster, even though the poster warned him to slow his roll. Eventually, the poster gathered and pieced together enough clues to figure out where the asshole lived, and actually knocked on his door one evening. Now, later on, on the board, this scenario was described by the asshole, who was obviously shaken, but defended by the poster, who said he just wanted to see if the asshole would repeat his comments to his face. The consensus was that the poster was kind of scary.
As a result, I have never truthfully revealed where I live (if I have, I have often changed it up), my family situation (number of kids, their sex, where they live), my degree, college, or occupation, or my exact age...at least not with any consistency. I am a ridiculous name with a set of political leanings and certain life philosophies. I guarantee that my real friends and family, out here in the real world, would not be able to "pick me out of a line up." I would also guess there are many posters, some of whom have multiple personas, who agree. As a result, regardless of what you say, insults from personas don't, and shouldn't bother me, or anyone else, and that is not some sign of "deep insecurities", or "lack of self-awareness". Quite the contrary, to be honest. If insults bother you, then maybe you are too invested in this place instead of where you should be...in the real world, where your family and friends, assuming you have both, reside.

@shooter yet your paper goes on to offer ways opioid use can be more safe. Because god forbid we go without our opioids.

No, it goes off on ways why future safer pain relievers yet to be marketed and not emerging from big Pharma can replace the existing opioids.
Wanting people to no longer DIE of opioid overdoses is evil. Gotcha.

Shooter is fat, ugly, and a loser.
Sounds like a personal attack. And I am none of those.
Loser? Today's good news is that I got a paper accepted in "Nature", one of the the highest impact scientific journals on Earth. Ugly? i suppose that's a matter of opinion. Fat? Maybe 130 pounds ago, but not any more. Shirts 4X -> 3X -> 2X -> 1XL-Big -> XL-slim cut. Aiming for a L, but shoulders may be too broad to get there. Goodwill got 25 of my old too big shirts this weekend. I rode my bike 15 miles this morning, working off the minor 3 lb backslide from Thanksgiving pies. 2026 should see me reach my "ideal" BMI chart weight.
As to the hierarchy of a-holes, I could imagine myself peaceably sharing a beer and talking IU sports or maybe even politics with Stoll, Favra, maybe even Danc. But no way in hell would I ever share space with McMurt. At least, unarmed.
On a lay down bike, with a helmet and training wheels.
I may have to use AI to paint this picture.
What parameters shall I use? hmmmm
Antifa T-shirt

Man with a boob job
