@twenty DeSantis and Vance are oddballs. But shit I’m not looking for competency. Just smart. Obama you may not agree with but at least there was no doubt he was smart and anything he did would be inside the lines
Obama thinks socialism works. By default he's idiot.
Let's not make it overly complicated. Massie lost by being out of step with the pedophile protector wing of MAGA, which is in charge. That was the central issue, him demanding that everybody needs to comply with the law regarding full release of the Epstein files. That was unacceptable to DJT. Period.
"You can't make someone listen to reason if they aren't willing to think"-- Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451
@shooter you still don't know the meaning of pedophile. you come on and are just such a triggered woke that you write this out of pure rage. you do realize doj had ample time to do anything under biden. you do realize they hated trump with a passion. there was time to release the files and pursue indictments for years do you not?

At the rate things are going, it wont be Vance. He's too directly tied to Trumps policies / failures that he wont have a viable shot. He can't pivot away from Trump's policies because he will lose the 25% MAGA coalition and can't win the primary. Harris had a shot if she could have said "I implemented Joe Biden's agenda, but here are a few things I would have done differently." Instead, she went all in and said she wouldn't change a thing. Vance doesn't even get that option. He has to go all in or he wont make it past the Iowa primary.
Again, there is still time for Trump to turn things around, but Vance's future political ambitions are looking bleak.
@squeakyclean he's very smart though. harris is dumb. i wouldn't count out his ability to distance himself a bit from trump without cutting his nose off.... and to a certain degree you have to remember who maga are. they are never going woke. they are climate people, cop haters, tranny lovers. so where else are they going to go. among the countless things progressive politicians are stupid about, which is to say democrats, is pandering to the lgbqtx woke crowd. you don't need to. they are already baked in. they are never voting republican. i think we'll see the same holds for most maga
@snarlcakes what you think is reality, ain't. Trump will be a lame duck in 7 more months, and the party will move on to something else. What that looks like is completely unknown. Things move quickly
I think we both said Trump was done in 21 and 22. How did that work out for us? It will be Vance, Rubio, DeSantis in 28. I like all 3 and they're MAGA. The future is bright.
They have too much humility and care, so they likely won't act as brashly as Trump does.

1) I highly doubt that it will be Harris. I put her in the 1% chance personally. Even Hillary was smart enough to know that she had no chance the second time around. I'd put AOC in the 15 - 20% area. Hoping for a Shapiro / Beshear type. Either that or a completely out-of-nowhere type. Somebody with a limited social media presence and no history of foot-in-mouth moments that Republicans can point to try to label his as part of the "woke" crowd.
2) I also highly doubt Vance can effectively distance himself from Trump. He's kinda in a damned if you do, damned if you don't category. Trump is currently in the 60% disapproval level. Only 25% "strongly approve". So, at best, half the Republican base is already gone. You can put up a Republican governor who is "anti-woke" and fiscally responsible and you'll get 10% of the remaining MAGA crowd easily and that will be enough to sink Vance.
3) Trump is literally so thin skinned that Republicans who voted 99.5% in-line with him but had one bad thing to say about him, and the next election cycle they get primaried out. Trump demands loyalty and does not reciprocate. If Vance says one thing that is not in-line with Trump's worldview, Trump will drop him in a heartbeat, say he never really did anything, come up with a cute nickname, and that's another 10% of the MAGA crowd gone.
@squeakyclean probably rubio then. i have a hard time believing desantis, competent or not. he just comes across as too big of an ahole
Watched the Massie speech to his young but still enthusiastic supporters following his concession.
Cannot recall a louder and more excited group of losers. Absolutely amazing. Will be interesting to see what Massie and his groupies do, or don't do, in the years ahead.
The future GOP may have a few surprises for us all.
@bulk-vh He stands by his behavior on J6. Altho he has turned on trump over the epstein files. that was a bridge too far. and i believe he's suing him as well while also continuing to pursue his own political career after having lost a race in the house and his governor run not getting off the ground like had hoped. in az anything is possible and we will continue to follow his story. oh and the Q bit was a lark. he doesn't really want to be called that
I don’t agree. Trump’s positions are pretty solid GOP. His shortcomings are not policies, it’s his big mouth and vindictive personality. Vance isn’t like that. Vance can build on positive accomplishments (immigration, border security, taxes, education reform, law reform, anti-woke, and maybe Iran nukes) and win in a walk.

So basically, "mean tweets".
I guess we are being asked to ignore the massive corruption, which can be excused because of the alternative.
.
@bulk-vh no one cares about corruption. Gas and groceries. And that doesn’t look good at all. It’s always crab legs
There’s plenty of interest here. Uncle Mark’s thread “Trump Corruption,” after just five days, has numbers for both posts and views that usually take months to reach.
More importantly, people care nationally.
“The economy is no longer Trump’s superpower. Of those polled by Fox News, three- quarters rate the economy negatively, with 70 percent feeling it’s getting worse. Voters now trust Democrats on the economy more than Republicans for the first time since May 2010. Trump’s weakness on the economy brings with it another growing danger for him. It is precisely when the public lacks confidence in an incumbent’s economic policy that they begin to pay attention to allegations of corruption.
“When Fox asked voters what the most important issues facing the US were, the issue of “political leadership/corruption” placed fourth, ahead of the Iran war. Among self-styled moderate voters, the issue of corruption tied for third place. An April Rasmussen Reports poll found that nearly half of likely voters believe the Trump administration has more corruption than most recent administrations.
“An idea has taken hold that Trump’s administration isn’t minding the economic store but focuses instead on enriching themselves. If this idea keeps spreading, there’ll be serious consequences for both Trump and the Republican party.”
