Good stuff from Stewart, per usual. He concedes that the Late Night format is dead and needs to be rethought. But to just flat cancel a show that’s been running for 30 years and is #1 in its category by a mile? Seems odd. Scale it down and move it to streaming. Or something of that sort.

One of many of Stewart's good points in that clip is that canceling some of their shows is inadvertently killing what makes CBS/Paramount valuable. I've seen what everyone else is seeing - The Late Show was losing $40 million/year. That seems wild to me. I'd be curious of what that breakdown is.

@ohio-guy that seems like hope and conjecture.  yellowstone again apparently generated almost 3/4 of a billion dollars in profits. i can see them saying as much.  not a show losing 50 mil

I'm skeptical that the Late Show was actually losing that much money. Maybe it was...it just seems like that is some mismanagement of epic proportions.

CBS/Paramount just gave South Park a 5 year $1.5B deal.  Much wiser use of their money

Probably. I'm not really defending The Late Show here. Whatever you think of Colbert, he'll be fine.

I used to watch the Daily Show religiously, but you have to take his attempts at deeper political insight with a huge grain of salt. Much like John Oliver and Bill Maher, etc. Just because you want it to be true, and someone can make it sound funny, doesn't mean it is.

In that clip, I saw a comedian telling major law firms, universities, and corporations how to make business decisions about legal actions, not knowing anything about the underlying facts of those legal actions. The end song's climax is "if you protect your bottom line, I've got but one thing to say: go fuck yourself."  It might be cute and naïve if made by a college-aged kid, but it's tough to not wince when it's being said by a guy making 8 figures in defense of another guy making 8 figures.

Sadly, this is where people go for news and their opinions these days.  Even many educated people--ignorant of how this stuff all works--will take this as gospel (intentional).

When you watch movies do you just sit there and point out all the inaccuracies?  Haha J/k.

Stewart is a comedian with an opinion. He is no more or less informed than a lot of the people on MSNBC, FOX, ECT. But he is way funnier. Yes it's sad that a comedian is just as trustworthy a news source as those on the "news channels".

What does Adam Schiff being a guest have to do with his show getting canceled?

The Epstein episode, you know they are going to drop, is going to be amazing. I'm curious if you all will of a sudden hate South Park after that?

Given the more frequent vulgarity Colbert has descended into when he references Trump, he perhaps may be a better fit for a network like HBO.

He could go right after John Oliver and they could call it their “Deranged, hateful leftist” hour”

@dbmhoosier the time of these late night hosts using their platforms to trash trump and maga and promote woke nonsense is over.  we're bringing gas back.  creating yellowstone spinoffs.  letting dana white run dodge ram commercials with eagles' squawking.  AMERICA FIRST.  don't like it.  move to europe with rosie and ellen
