Ive said frequently that Trump’s 2020 post election political and legal strategy was seriously misguided and counterproductive. Nothing has changed my mind. I would have told him if I was asked.

@ohio-guy Pedantry: Trump isn't Vance's boss. In fact, he's about the only guy in the Executive branch who can say that with 100% certainty.

Fair enough. I still think Vance stepped in it a bit admitting the administration messed up and Trump won’t be happy about it. And that matters to Vance and his political aspirations.

@ohio-guy I think Vance wants to be President, and I think he feels he needs to walk a very thin line. Straight sycophant won't do it for him. But too independent will threaten his standing with the base, and he's probably still expecting Trump as prez emeritus to still fancy himself a kingmaker. He's probably going to wobble a little too far in one direction or the other once in a while.

@dbmhoosier I think this segment where JD admits the administration mishandled the Epstein files might be more interesting to his boss:

Already posted.  JD isn't Trump and he isn't owned by the Israel lobby.  He's a once and lifetime political talent and Trump is squandering it.

The rigging happened in the months before Election Day with all the Marc Elias litigation and Covid “emergency “ alterations to voting processes.  Marc Elias was genius and the Republicans had no idea what was happening.

If we have learned one thing in the 21st century, we have learned that as far as government processes, programs, benefits, and activities is concerned, if cheating can happen, cheating will happen.  Maybe you think elections are an exception, but I don’t.  Everything that changed in the run-up to the 2020 election made cheating easier, not harder.

So the adjustments that were made to the election processes in response to Covid were rigging? Cheating?

They weren't done constitutionally so yes.

And yet no court has found that to be the case.

Even if they were improper, who did they benefit? And how?

It's not a very solid and logical argument. Red and blue states were making voting more accessible because of the COVID pandemic. Trump's COVID vaccine was months away, so it was 100 percent understandable and justified. The changes applied to everyone equally and didn't favor one party over the other. It's like when the golf course is a bit muddy on the PGA tour and they implement the lift, clean and place rule. It applies to everyone and doesn't favor one golfer over the other. Rules that apply to everyone is not "rigging" anything.

The outrage over the laptop is primarily manufactured outrage. First, everyone was already aware of it or should have been because it had been reported in the paper and right-wing media obsessed over it. Second, the pre-election polls showed that Biden was likely to win by about 4.5 percentage points over a deeply unpopular (another thing the election deniers ignore) President Trump. Hunter wasn't running for President and years later we know there wasn't anything on it that really implicated Joe Biden in any wrongdoing. It wasn't going to move the needle in the last few days before the election. Probably not at all, but certainly not enough to change the results, which was a Biden victory that was by a nearly identical margin the pre-election polls showed. It frankly would have been a real shocker if Trump won. It wasn't a shock at all that Biden won. Who here can honestly say they were shocked when the polls and the President's popularity were what they were? 2016 was a shocker, but 2020 wasn't. It went as every thinking person expected it to go.

@unclemark He's merely repeating his debunked and nonsensical election denier disinformation that the election was "illegal" because a couple states made changes that were later deemed to be problematic constitutionally. They didn't change any results, and the election was not "illegal."

The harm to the public's trust in our elections he's done with his 2020 stolen election lies is immense and should not be forgiven or forgotten. He's going to pile on to that dung heap of lies tomorrow night, apparently. The dumbest among us will repeat those lies starting immediately.

Exactly my point.

The Covid election adjustments were done by the states, not some spooky deep state cabal controlled by Marc Elias or any other nefarious actor.

This is hopelessly naive.  Election officials of various states, especially those of a common political persuasion, collaborate all the time about common interests and how to advance their political policies.

Lol. Questioning elections is a healthy sign of strength, not weakness. In much of the world those who question elections  go to jail or are executed.

Some are still "questioning" it 6 years later, regardless of lack of evidence.  It's obviously not an effort to strengthen, and that's not the result.
