there's no one viewing that board. football posts out number it 3-1. do people just not care about iu hoops anymore? the administration killed it with their inane smugness?
or iu is simply a football school now?
Nothing much happening recruiting wise right now. For the first time ever, I’m hard pressed to come up with a single name on the team and I’d imagine most people are in the same boat. We need to not play stupid basketball, see some hope with our coach, and have at least a big upset this year and we’ll be starting back. I’m not making any predictions until I see them a few times, but it appears there were some positives in Puerto Rico.

So dramatic. It's a Saturday in August, and football is starting. Plenty of time to get excited about basketball.

I might recognize half of the names, but couldn't tell you anything about them (besides Enright, DeVries, and Sisley) and couldn't match a name with a face if my life depended on it.
All I'm asking for this year is to play solid fundamental ball that's fun to watch and don't embarrass me.

The Mike Woodson effect. It's also summer, we have zero star players, and the fan base has been completely hoodwinked by every hire since the RMK firing. They want to see some big results first this time before they buy in. But it's possible that Quinn Buckner killed the program. Hopefully Devries has some big things up his sleeve.

I don't know what "big things" you have in mind, but all he needs to do to satisfy me is play the game the way it's supposed to be played in today's day and age. The wins should come. The little bit of film I've seen tells me they like to make the extra pass and can score in waves. The two comebacks against the Serbian team tells me that CDD knows how to make adjustments and can get the kids fired up enough to pull shit like that off. I'm cautiously optimistic, with realistic expectations.

Do what Pope, Dusty, and Kelsey did last season. Flip it in year 1.
I really like Devries as a coach. That's what he needs to do.

I don’t frequent Purdue boards but there is a lot more talk about Purdue basketball than football on X and even the Purdue podcasts seem to spend almost half their time talking basketball. Wasn’t like this nearly as much last August as Purdue fans thought the football team would be competitive. Just the ebbs and flows I guess when one sport is performing sig better than the other at any given moment in time.
Kind of funny how almost all of the comments in this thread are mirrored by Purdue football. Purdue’s last football coach really set things back, everyone likes the new guy, but can’t name more than 2 or 3 players on this year’s team. (I think Purdue has almost 50 guys who are new to the program.)
Still, Purdue football is not IU basketball in terms of history, importance to the school, etc.
Not just Woodson. Miller+Woodson=8 years of little to no excitement and terrible, boring basketball.there's no one viewing that board. football posts out number it 3-1. do people just not care about iu hoops anymore? the administration killed it with their inane smugness?

Every year those last Two BIG Championships coached by Tom Crean get further and further in the rear-view mirror
Crean was vilified and fired by the mob...
Nothing has changed.
