What if Trump, before our SMO would have simply came out and said; Iran is going to have Nikes and I am going to let them have them since every president in the last 50 yrs have also. Good luck you all.
Fucking Phil Knight. I knew there was something I didn't like about him.

His love for Oregon wasn't enough?
"I had flown back from Tel Aviv from Ben Gurion Airport after seeing the ambassador, and two days later, I was in the Oval with Trump alone,” said Carlson. “...I said, ‘This war is not about Iran’s nuclear program, which you told me – and the world – that you eliminated last summer in June.’”
When Carlson suggested that Israel was pushing the war on Iran, Trump agreed.
“And he looked at me and said, 'yes, you’re right,'” Carlson said. “'But in the end, we all die anyway. So it doesn’t matter.' That’s exactly what he said.”

"Release Iranian frozen funds"
If I were Iran, I'd make it a requirement of this deal that these frozen funds be delivered in cash, by pallet from a plane, just so they could break out the popcorn and laugh as half the US population lost their collective crap about it.

Iran needs to stop playing with goats and beg Trump for a deal. They are really really f#cked now.
"The news comes minutes after reported indicated that"
Although I would love this to be true. Are we now Okay to believe "journalism" can't even take the time to proof read before publication? Anyway, there is nothing that Trump says or the Media says that we can believe any longer! Fuck it, I'm going squirrel hunting and NOT even taking my hearing aids. It will be a better world!

I thought Iran controlled the strait and have played their cards great @hhlurker? This can't be true😳

I wasn't a fan of the Iran War, but Iran was always going to end up screwed once they shut down the strait. The U.S. military and markets were always going to solve the issue if given enough time. 6 months from now it will be even less of an issue if it continues.

In any case, you’ve got me pegged wrong. I’m all for Trump winning the Iran War, but I’m a realist. It seems neither Israel nor Iran wants it to end. That makes it doubly hard for Trump to win. Complicated by the definition of a win. I highly doubt any long-term cease-fire will leave us in a better position than we were before the war started. But again, I’m hopeful.
But this is my point:I thought Iran controlled the strait and have played their cards great @hhlurker? This can't be true
WSJ: “Iran’s ability to choke off oil flowing through the Strait of Hormuz—and use that as leverage in talks with the U.S.—is breaking down, raising the risk it will resort to military escalation to bolster its position.”
If Iran bends the knee, all is well. But will they? Do they care? Or will they “martyr” themselves. This could go in @jdb’s Islam thread. What do you do with religious zealots who are willing to martyr the entire nation? Right or wrong the world simply won’t tolerate the US burning Iran to the ground.
This is Trump’s quandary and there might not be a solution that Trump finds acceptable or that leaves the situation better for us.
You seem to be expecting a “rational” conclusion to this. There might just not be one.

I'm arguing it doesn't matter if Iran is rational or not. Their leverage and ability to disrupt oil flows will continue to become less and less. Prior to the war some people predicted 200-300 barrels of oil, which would have put the global economy into at least a recession. Iran had a ton of leverage, which is why nobody attacked them. Fast forward 8 months and it never went above 130 and we're sitting at 90. The cost of production is around 55. Oil is going to work its way back to its cost eventually. Markets have a way of taking out the trash.
OK I get your point. You’re strictly looking at it from the economic and oil perspective. You also seem to be assuming Iran has no capability to attack the shipping corridor. Fair enough.
Meanwhile Iran has shown an ability to attack our bases and other sites around the ME which leaves me to wonder what Iran’s thinking is. I’m assuming they could disrupt the corridor again but are refraining for the time being, so what is up?
I was more looking at it from the political perspective for Trump and the long-term war resolution perspective.
From China’s perspective helping Iran hurts the Chinese economy if oil prices go up but at the same time, China wants to be a hemorrhoid in our ass if at all possible. so if you’re right about the oil prices stabilizing and Iran essentially losing future control over Hormuz, then that will put China back into a position of being able to help Iran without worrying about their economic consequences.
Eventually Iran will be able to attack Hormuz again. If Trump had killed my entire family I’d never forget and never forgive.
