I get the jist though. People need to understand that there is a difference between the price of oil and the price of gasoline. They are not the same thing and just because the price for a barrel of oil jumps or drops, that doesn't mean that the cost of gas is going to be affected equally at the same time. Both oil and refined petroleum products (gasoline, plastics, etc.) are separate commodities and while the petroleum products are created from the crude oil, their availability via supply and demand can be affected differently.
