@aloha-hoosier Stavridis said this morning he would want 2 carriers to do the blockade. I suspect that it would be similar to escort. We have 3 in operational range. But convincing corporations to risk very valuable ships might be the hard part. Yes, the odds of a drone hitting a tanker might be 1 in a hundred, but for a supertanker that is enormous.
I am convinced someone downplayed this risk. Anthony Blinken was on this morning and said they were always warned by Intel that if Iran believed it was a question of survival it would block the straight. Assuming that advice never changed, it seems we have been woefully under prepared. Now Iran has played the Trump card which will set a lot of anti-Iran events off. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't have been ready.
I think Smerconish is right, I don't know that we have a choice now as Iran will certainly build a bomb. But anyone that thinks we executed a brilliant plan and had contingencies planned out is whistling past the graveyard. It appears our plan was, "bomb a few days and the uprising will succeed." Anyone answering differently, explain why our LCS were not there with their mine sweeping capability?
You’re getting an awful lot of mileage out of the fact that a couple LCS were down for repairs when the war started.
Are they the only assets capable of performing MCM? Do they have the typical air defense capabilities of a destroyer or a carrier? Would it have been wise to drop them in an active war zone with thousands of missiles and drones flying back and forth?
Was clearing the Strait of mines the primary objective of the military operation through the first six weeks of the war or is it the four priorities Dan Caine has laid out as nauseum?
Any number of reasons for kicking off the war without those ships in theatre.
I would put last on that list the idea that Caine and Brad Cooper had no idea the Iranians might attempt to F with the Strait.
All I’ve heard for years is what a disaster area the LCS program has been. Now we’re supposed to believe we can’t go to war without them.

The American left is rooting hard for the Ayatollah - as usual. The left will literally support anything if it will advance the financial interests of their elite, rich, Democratic, masters in the Washington Establishment.
This is just the short list. They must be eradicated.

You aren't picking up Lucy Vibes? I mean a meaner take, but it is striking me that way.

I only remember one Buckeye regular from the old Cooler, but our current visitor hasn't used the term "negroid" yet, so it's probably not him.
Hopefully we get things working soon. We (the world) are running short of helium and aluminum. Helium impacts chip production and medical imaging. Aluminum impacts a lot.
Helium is our being penny wise and pound foolish. We had massive amounts from our nuclear testing program. In the early 2000s Congress cut the budget for storage. We had a massive fire sale, helium for balloons was air cheap.

I thought "he" was you. Is this a diversion post? I'm trying to smoke him out.

I'm not a good enough actor to pretend to be a Buckeye fan without throwing up.
