When you walk on to a commercial flight, it's possible that the pilot flying your plane could have a deranged fetish of dressing up like an animal.

I don't think I've ever boarded a flight and wondered what a pilot does in his free time. If we're going to start talking about institutionalizing everyone who does something other people think is weird, we all probably should start reserving our rooms at the looney bin. Maybe that's where we'll all go when AI replaces us and takes over our jobs. We won't need universal basic income because we'll be doped up on meds wandering around mental institutions watching TV all day.

Many people of the party of fake Christians don't recall Matthew 7:1

@big-ryan he's not wrong about mental illness. That's why I am campaigning for reinstitutionalization.

In light of the second half of that quote, maybe Tommy's the one who needs a psychiatric evaluation.

Furry airline crews?  "Lord help us?" Guy is bonkers.

I had an extremely fat pilot on a commercial flight recently.  That (or a drunk pilot) is scary.  Who gives a shit about a statistically insignificant percentage of the population that is into "furry" shit, or cross-dresses, or whatever?  Doesn't affect my life one bit.

Let's get Tommy examined too. He's said some crazy things. Anyone who is a furry is, by definition, mentally ill. Same for someone who thinks they are a member of the opposite sex.

So is fat shaming cool again for libs? I thought we were still in the body-positivity phase, but I can't keep up.

Agreed. Is there a pilots and FAs furries club that we are unware of? Why on earth would you single out those professions?

I look at the flight attendants and wonder who the pilot does.

Nice straw man.  No one's "fat-shaming." Obesity is a health issue, and I don't want a guy flying a plane on which I'm a passenger who looks like a heart attack waiting to happen.

There are 2 important things for pilots and they are in this order.

1) Fly good

2) Land gooder!

Morally Flexible. Kinda.

Anyone who is a furry is, by definition, mentally ill.

I haven't seen a dictionary definition of "furry," nor do I believe it's listed in the DSM but, if RFK Jr. has anything to do with it, it probably will be soon. LOL.

Anyone who suffers from depression is mentally ill.  Anyone who experiences extreme anxiety is mentally ill.  Anyone who's addicted to gambling or booze or porn is mentally ill.  That doesn't make them less than human or mandate institutionalization.  They can treat for that shit and still live normal lives and be productive members of society.

Mental illness is as pervasive as physical illness.  There's no shame in it, except when people fail to address it.

I honestly have no idea. The only thing that I could come up with is that Tuberville is just an idiot

Fat-calling: ascriptions of fatness that subordinate

Abstract

Calling someone fat is not only cruel and unkind—it also subordinates them. While the sharpest and most immediate harms of fatphobic bullying are emotional and psychological, these vary according to the resilience of the target. What one person can laugh off, another feels deeply, perhaps for years. But ‘fat-calling’ does not only have individual harms—it also perpetuates a subordinating social structure ranking fat people as inferior. Despite recent work on obesity and fatphobia, the conversational dynamics of ascribing fatness to someone else (rather than oneself) are relatively unexplored, especially in philosophy. This paper argues that fat-calling assigns its target a subordinate discourse role, constraining their subsequent conversational behaviour and permitting further discriminatory behaviour from interlocutors. And these conversational norm-changes alter the initial permissibility conditions of future conversations to the detriment of fat people. This is not to say that fat-calling is morally equivalent to slurs and hate speech—but it does show that it leverages similar conversational mechanisms to entrench injustice.

Yes, a coworker long ago accidentally let it slip. This person was always friendly to everyone in the office, and in an office known for arriving early and staying late, they still went above and beyond.

I don't get why people are do freaked out about what consenting adults do. 50 years ago I was on the negative side because we played D&D and were literally demonized. The old, "they are all Satan worshippers" thing. Now it is relatively mainstream, probably because I quit playing. The world isn't any worse off because people play D&D.

Funny thing is, some of the people upset about this stuff call themselves "libertarian." You know, so long as everyone lives their lives exactly as they do, it is ok. Step out of line the man come and take you away.

As long as it is consensual adults, I really don't care what you are all doing, how you are doing, or who you are doing it with (sexually or not. Hell, some of you like soccer and it doesn't bother me) Why is that so hard for so many?

It's nothing like it used to be.

People are far more live-and-let-live today thanks to yesterday's liberals.

Bizarre bogeyman

I actually have. It's been a while though.

In my old job we had an eccentric donor who gave us A LOT of money year in and year out. She also asked us to table at a festival she would underwrite, plan, and chair. This festival was definitely where she let her eccentric side shine. I personally tabled there two years in a row and saw all sorts of types. It was an interesting vibe, but everyone was cool.

I'm going to be boarding a flight shortly.  I'll prepare a report afterwards about any evidence of furry activity.

So far, my initial investigation has lead me to believe that Captain J Sullivan is in the clear but I am going to be keeping a close eye on the co-pilot, Officer A. Friskers.

@co-hoosier uh I’m still wondering. How did he explain about many pilots  and flight attendants being furries that makes any sense to you, unless you believe that? He then goes into the typical Republican rant on trans people. Do YOU actually believe that about pilots and flight attendants?
