Are part of the furry community. https://www.al.com/politics/2026/09/doug-jones-tubervilles-furry-pilot-senate-floor-speech-is-the-strangest-i-have-ever-heard.html Bless the stupid people who will believe him.
I sometimes wonder if Republicans running in the midterms have to pick out of Republicans talking points hat right before they speak publicly. There are only two choices though: “deport a bunch of minorities” or “non binary people/people who don’t fit into conservative norms are going to ruin your life by existing.”
I saw the video. The guy is nutty.
With all the shit happening at home and around the world, this is what he's talking about? Fear the furries?! Not surprising, I guess. He's a low IQ individual.
Also according to Tommy, "entire men's teams" across the US are transitioning in order to compete in women's sports. LOL.
This is the same guy who once described the three branches of government as "The House, the Senate and the executive," and said his father fought socialism in World War II.
He should have stayed in coaching, although Auburn was his only successful stop. He record was mediocre at Ole Miss, Texas Tech and Cincinnati.
Posting the quote since the OP was paywalled:
"It is clear that this gender confusion is a mental illness plaguing our society, and there is significant overlap between people who are gender confused and the furry community. Research shows that 25% percent of furries are gender confused, and it's more evidence of our society going to heck in a hand basket when we have stuff like this going on.
What's more concerning is that this [mentally-unwell] furry community touts the fact that many — listen to this — that many airline pilots, flight attendants, and air traffic controllers are part of the furry community. Lord help us. It's terrifying when you think about this. When you walk on to a commercial flight, it's possible that the pilot flying your plane could have a deranged fetish of dressing up like an animal. You can't make this up."
@big-ryan he's not wrong about mental illness. That's why I am campaigning for reinstitutionalization.

In light of the second half of that quote, maybe Tommy's the one who needs a psychiatric evaluation.
Furry airline crews? "Lord help us?" Guy is bonkers.
I had an extremely fat pilot on a commercial flight recently. That (or a drunk pilot) is scary. Who gives a shit about a statistically insignificant percentage of the population that is into "furry" shit, or cross-dresses, or whatever? Doesn't affect my life one bit.
Has even one of us has ever encountered a "furry" in our collective lifetimes? I think not. Maybe a few exist for the attention, but they're as rare as a UK fan with a full set of teeth.
Bizarre bogeyman

Only when I saw "Cats." And on Halloween.
I’ve seen all sorts of furry animals masquerading as humans. And on Halloween.

They are aware that many of their moron followers are incapable of thinking for themselves or fact checking.
Hell, they believed dems ran a child sex trafficking ring in the basement of a pizza joint that didn't even have a basement to begin with. Conservative politicians can make up anything and these fools believe it.
I have never once seen a pilot dressed as a fury at work...most airlines (if not all) require their pilots and staff to wear their uniform. What fetish or oddity they may or may not have outside of work doesn't really change anything. Doesn't make the person bad at their job. Just like being LGBT doesn't make someone bad at their job.
You won’t need to wonder if you read the actual quote instead of what zeke implied.
I did. Tuberville is a nutjob worrying about unserious and/or made up problems. Until there is an issue with pilots being habitually late, not showing up for work, flying to the wrong airport or crashing because they like to dress up like animals in their free time, Tuberville needs to STFU. I'm not sure dressing up like an animal in their free time warrants being institutionalized. And if they're a good pilot, what they do in their off days doesn't bother me.

I don't think I've ever boarded a flight and wondered what a pilot does in his free time. If we're going to start talking about institutionalizing everyone who does something other people think is weird, we all probably should start reserving our rooms at the looney bin. Maybe that's where we'll all go when AI replaces us and takes over our jobs. We won't need universal basic income because we'll be doped up on meds wandering around mental institutions watching TV all day.
