Just finished watching the 5-part documentary on Hulu.

Pretty eye-opening.

It’s well done. I’ve read and watched a lot about it, but this had some things I still didn’t know. And lots of footage.

I was amazed at how many agencies totally dropped the ball, for whatever reasons.

Do they address the fact that NOLA survived the actual storm quite well, that in fact there was a short period of relief after it passed over? Then the levies failed and Lake Pontchartrain emptied into the city like filling a bathtub.

It was the MS and AL gulf coasts that got obliterated by the winds and the storm surge.

@mcm666 my cousin's husband is a lineman and got sent down there for almost a month.

Said it was absolutely horrific.  He came back with a stray dog that passed a few years ago.   They named her Katrina.

@boogie love that.  yep a disaster.  he did that and i had to do litigation on coastal claims.  not covered.  why?  it was a flood.  you had wind.  not covered.  why.  that was wind.  what did i have. flood.  at the same time.  young man you realize my house was $27 million?  yeah.  and the pond behind it smells like shit.  yeah.  because it's reclaimed water.  and there's nothing we can do?  no we can litigate.  how long will that take?  generations.  but we will win.  i doubt it.

would have rather been hammering nails.  what's going on with these coastal condos all over fla now is insane.  the one that was bombed in n miami (rip igw) has given rise to all of these condos up and down both coasts being assessed absurd amounts.  and now they cant sell them.  you can find condos on the water for a thousand bucks.  no one wants

My brother lived in a beachfront apartment just east of Biloxi. I went down there at Thanksgiving to take a look at the damage. His little town and Biloxi and all along the coast from Mobile west looked like the pictures we see of Gaza today. New Orleans got all the press, but the damage there was man made. The Gulf coast couldn't have prepared for what they experienced.
