The Reds all year were maddening with their lack of consistency and getting any momentum. I thought the A's series was the stick a fork them moment. The A's had one of the best records over the 2nd half of the year. Losing 2 of 3 to the Pirates was way worse. Backing in. I don't know. They swept the Cubs in 4 games and the Cubs seem pretty solid team. They beat the Brewers 2 of 3 in their park and haven't beat them in a series anywhere in forever.
The Miracle Mets finished strong but needed a Cubs collapse to get in playoffs in 69 and then the World Series.
